A text came in from Isaac just as we were walking back to the dorms. I still didn't know where I was going to keep Arrow, but he couldn't be left wandering campus again. I could keep him hidden. I could bring him back to my room. All I had to do was get past the ladies at the front desk, avoid any straggling students in the halls, take the elevator to the fourth floor (and pray it was empty), bring Arrow back to my room without the cameras catching us, and tomorrow morning bring his six-foot-something frame back out through those obstacles so I could take him to class with me and somehow explain where he came from to all my professors.

Easy.

I took out my phone and found not only had Isaac texted me, but so had Luna. At nearly the same time...

Isaac: did you give Luna my number????

Uh oh. He was either super ecstatic or super pissed, and judging by the four question marks at the end, he was super pissed. But he didn't even answer my question earlier! He knows I know he saw it, no doubt. He probably even saw it the moment I sent it. This was more important to him than the whereabouts of my lover?

Luna: Isaac denies everything! he said he never saw you yesterday?????? when did Marks become a fuckboy?? Obvs you have the same story as foreign dude and you wouldn't lie to me cuz ME AND YOU ARE STILL BEST FRIENDS AND I'M SORRY. COME HOME.

Uh oh. Apparently Isaac and I weren't on the same page with the story about Valentine's day. But couldn't he have thought of something better than a straight-up lie? Where else would I have been if not at his place?

He wasn't going to help me construct this story. That's the real reason he didn't reply: it totally wasn't his problem. Could I blame him? He never asked to be a part of my story. He was just sorta...there. Merely a plot device to propel me into the next chapter so we could get to the main storyline. Not to mention, I didn't keep up my end of the deal, so why would he keep his? I told him after last night we'd pretend none of it happened, we'd continue being strangers. Maybe the whole I-have-to-return-the-security-keys thing was just a setup to get away from me ASAP. He didn't even ask if I'd found Arrow.

Isaac Marks wasn't a fuckboy-he was a bullshit artist. Who knew.

To him, I replied: I might've ... Why?

To Luna, I typed: he's not a fuckboy...the truth shall be revealed. I'm coming to the dorms...but I have company. Make sure no one else is there, kay?

Arrow walked next to me as I put my phone away. God, what had I gotten myself into? What was I gonna tell Luna? Would I tell her anything? She was my best friend. I was still mad and deeply offended, but I wasn't going to be petty and spend the night outside when we had A REAL CHEMICAL PROBLEM who was absolutely beautiful and had a boyish charm that prevented me from detaching my eyes from his face.

What was my point?

We were nearly at the girls' dorms when three more texts came in.

Luna: you didn't really fuck the fuckboy, huh? You're spilling the tea as soon as I get you alone... And what company? No Name?

Isaac: why the hell did you do that?? Just cuz you're dissatisfied with your love life doesn't mean you should fuck with mine.

Luna: dorm's clear. Shall I use my charm on the chick at the front desk?

Well that certainly didn't feel like a massive punch to the gut. Isaac's text-not Luna's. He was totally pissed. Clearly, I thought wrong about his and Luna's ex-relationship. I'd always gotten the impression they made a mutual agreement to part ways after that night, but clearly something else happened that Luna never shared with me.
