"Hey," Isaac said from the kitchen. He glanced up briefly before looking back at the pan of eggs.
"This smells good." I shut the door, walked up to his side and peered over his shoulder. "Shall I assume this is for both of us?"
"Why in the world would I cook for Miss Vixen? Maybe it's for Phil since he can't cook for shit. He lives off cereal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner."
"Sounds about right."
He laughed and turned off the stove. Then he faced me, grabbed my wrist, and pulled me towards him. Once I stood between his legs, he tilted my chin up and kissed me.
Mind...swimming...stars in my head...
Wow Isaac tasted good. His tongue, lips...everything...
In the elevator on my way up, Isaac texted, "damn, was it that bad?" to which I replied "not at all...omw up. took care of business so we have the rest of today to ourselves :)."
Suddenly, a loud gargling/snorting sound erupted and I jumped. "Oh God, I thought he left." I pulled away and peered around the corner, my hand still on Isaac's chest. Phil's snores continued. "He'd wake the neighbors sooner than anyone else would."
"Wanna test that theory?"
I looked up. "Mind in the gutter...you can't joke like that with me anymore; I'm highly susceptible to poor-decision making again. College first." I wrapped my arms around Isaac's waist and rested my cheek on his chest. He felt warm and smelled like soap (maybe lavender) and he tightened his arms around me, too.
"How do you feel?" Isaac lowered his voice.
How did I feel? I hadn't really processed much, but the air down here filled my lungs much fuller than the air in Arrow's dorm. "Happy. Safe. Home." I paused and looked up at him. "Last night felt strange and new...but good. Today feels like an extended fantasy. And I don't feel pain anywhere."
"No regrets, right?"
"Still none, although I wish I would've worn cuter underwear."
"You looked so fucking sexy." He paused. "I wouldn't mind doing it again."
I blushed-hard.
Well, no point in feeling embarrassed: he already saw the most vulnerable parts of me. I felt connected to him in a new way. My skin remembered his touch and wanted him close to me, my heart beat faster each time he looked at me, my body knew his and buzzed with euphoria from what felt more like a soul connection than a platonic friend chemistry.
"This changes things," I said quietly. "So...are we still, like, friends or classmates or what?"
"Hm...I think this just makes us classmates, don't ya think?"
I shrugged. "Wouldn't expect anything more."
"Agreed."
I bit my lip to fight my own smile. What was supposed to happen now? Was this my happy ending? If so, I wanted things to stop right here, in this moment. It was just before noon, sunlight streamed through the windows, the dorm smelled like food, Phil slept soundly, and I woke up next to the person who accepted me for all the chaos and baggage I brought with me.
Cut the scene: my story ends April ninth. Go on.
But Isaac just had to ask the question.
"So what happens with Arrow?" Isaac moved away to grab plates.
"Well, he'll be in the Wacky Lab at midnight, I'm not sure what day though because he has to ensure all the steps are perfectly aligned." As I said the words, I realized how strange it sounded.
