'Hi Silver, it's nice to have you back.' A teacher said to me as the Headmaster escorted me to me new tutor group.I hadn't been here in two months, according to my family, but to me it was like I've never been here in my life.
I was in an accident with a boy. I've forgotten everything. I spent the past two months learning the basics about my life and a week before that in a coma. My name, my age, my family, my school, learning how to write again after losing all feeling in my hands and my friends. Three boys came to see me once I was allowed visitors. At first I thought one of them was the boy who was driving with me that night, but none of them seemed injured at all.
As for the mystery driver I have no idea who he is or how he's doing, I asked my mum if he and I were close but she'd told me to focus on getting better. I could tell she was upset when she spoke about him, which made me wonder, was he dead or was he my brother or both? She said there was no point of me getting upset over it right now.
So thats been my life the past two months, getting to now my mum and dad and my supposed best friends, who I'd grown to love really quickly.
Only thing was, I didn't know who I was.
I looked up at my teacher who'd called me Silver like my parents had and like Mikey, Joey and Saint had. I guess that was what everyone called me and I'd have to get used to it.
'Uh its good to be back.' Even though I wasn't really back.
'Well you're five minutes early which is a nice change.' He joked. I guess I was always late then? 'Everyone will be coming in soon, I just wanted to ask if you wanted to introduce yourself or if you just wanted me to quickly say you're here an not make it a big deal?'
'I don't know, did I have friends in this class?' I asked unsure if anyone would care for me to make a huge introduction.
He looks at me in disbelief for a second. 'Now thats a sentence I never thought you'd say. You are only close with four people in this class but everyone wants to be your friend Silver. You were friendly and made sure you included everyone but you always kept your friend groups small.'
'Were those four people all boys by any chance?' Hoping that he was talking about about my friends that visited me, because I wouldn't be looking forward to getting to know four more people today. But only three came to see me, and they hadn't mentioned a fourth on the many days and nights they'd come, so maybe this was a girl friend.
'Yup, you never were the type of girl to befriend other girls, for as long as I can remember you've always been around boys and gotten along with them better.' He said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
So the fourth person was a boy too.
'So do you're friends know you're coming today.' He asks casually. I think me and him got along. He did look young and he seemed very comfortable around me, almost as if we were friends.
'No I wanted to surprise them.'
'That's a shame, they might be a little late then but its fine I'll show you you're seat before they come.'
Just as I'm about to ask him about the fourth boy the bell goes off and students start walking in.
Gasps start to fill the room and screeches of happiness from people I assumed I talked to and considered friends.
They all take their seats still staring at me shocked and whispering to each other.
'Alright shut up you brainless worms,' the teacher said amused, 'this Silver you all know her but as you know she's changed a bit so don't annoy her or I will annoy you in detention after school.' He laughed and the students laughed with him.
Okay so he was the cool teacher, I'd have to write that down along with his name once I figured it out through someone.
Before he can speak again theres a knock at the door and three boys walk in. They still didn't notice me when they started speaking, 'Edward my man, how about I give you two packs of skittle today and you don't add this late to my record.' Saint spoke up amused making his way to his seat.
The whole class started in anticipation and the teacher that Mikey called Edward just smirked at their obliviousness.
'I think he's giving us the silent treatment.' Joey starts.
'No he's not you morons, look.' Saint exclaimed staring at me shocked as he nudged the other boys towards me.
'SILVER!' They all shouted at once running towards me for hugs.
I couldn't help but laugh and everyone stared clapping and saying 'aww' at the reunion.
I'd seen them a lot before this, but never this well. Never when I could walk or even dress myself.
They hugged me tightly and Saint even spun me around before we settled down and made our way to our seats. The table was for six people to sit at. Joey and Michael sat together and Saint sat at one desk and directed me to the opposite one. Did I normally sit alone? Why didn't he sit with me? Was the mystery fourth person going to join us?
'I know its been an exciting morning but we only have ten minutes left of tutor period, can we please just calm down for it.' Edward said, smiling what seemed like a genuine smile.
'Where is he?' I heard Mikey mutter to Joey.
'I don't know, but he better coming to tutor or he could find out without us being there to help him out.'
What was this code language they were speaking in. Could they not just say who and what they were talking about.
I was just about to ask them what they were talking about when the door swung open to a very handsome looking boy. No, man.
'Hello Mr. King, what a pleasure for you to join us.' Edward says but the boy doesn't lift his gaze from the ground. 'I think theres a surprise waiting for you at your desk.' Edward smirks.
The boy snaps his head to my direction and then I noticed all the eyes staring at us nervously.
This was the fourth boy.
He stopped walking and didn't make a move.
'Silver?' His voice broke and he looked like he was about to cry.
'Yup, that's me, apparently.' I whisper the last part as I stood up, but I can tell he heard because a sad smile formed onto his lips as if something he was dreading had been confirmed.
We stared at each other for a while longer and before I knew it I was in his arms being wrapped so tightly I was scared I'd lose circulation. I thought it would feel weird having a complete stranger hug me so intimately, but it didn't. I felt safe and protected and loved.
He spun me around now crying with joy. He clearly wasn't one to cry because everyone was so shocked they started cheering.
Even though it had felt like I'd known him, he was still a stranger tome and the thought of gaining his reaction from just hugging him scared me a little.
He finally put me down and looked at me. 'It really is you.'
'Yeah.' I chuckled nervously. 'I'm sorry but who are you?'
His smile slowly fell and thats when I realised, he didn't know.
'You don't remember me?' Hurt filled his voice.
'Uh- I- no sorry.' I shrugged, struggling to speak.
He turned to our table. 'You said she remembers me.' He whispers in resentment.
The boys gave him sorry looks and he left before they could even start to think of an explanation.
It's weird. Even though I don't know him, in that very moment he touched me it was like the stars had reunited with the sky.
Now that he was gone if seemed impossible to ever see another star in the sky.
