Alexander sighed as he sat down at his walked through the county garden. Tears threatened to fall from his eyes as he muttered four words over and over again to himself.

"Make me proud son."

Thinking about the moment made him have to choke back a sob. He stopped walking and bright his hand up to cover his mouth, not wanting to fall into the depression. He doesn't deserve to feel sorry. He doesn't deserve to be pitied upon. Just years before he broke his wives heart and slept with another woman. And then he sent his oldest son to his death.

He didn't deserve the job he had. He didn't deserve to keep the pistol Philip used. He didn't deserve to be Secretary of anything for Washington. He didn't deserve the room his wife allowed him to sleep in. Hell, he didn't even deserve his wife.

"Hamilton, is that you?" The voice was unmistakable, and Alexander wanted nothing more than to disappear right then. Thomas was the last person he wanted to see, especially in the state he was in.

Quickly, Alexander wiped his eyes and fixed his already disheveled wear, before turning around. Before him stood Thomas, wearing his usual velvet suite, carrying his annoying cane that was almost as tall as Alexander. Thomas's hair was a curly mess, but somehow seemed tame and neat. Alexander huffed and turned back to walk away, when Thomas stopped him once more.

"Alexander." A shiver past through Alexander as he stood still. Tears began steaming down his face as he bit his lip, choking back sobs. Thomas sighed looked at the gremlin a moment, trying figure out what to do. Eventually, he dropped the cane and walked in front of Alexander, pulling him into a soft hug.

"H-he died... Thomas, I-I led h-him to his death..." Alexander sobbed as he clung to Thomas's shirt. Thomas sighed softly and pulled him a little closer, rubbing his back. Alexander buried his face into Thomas's shoulder and sobbed, the velvet suite now wet.

"No you didn't, Alexander..." Thomas mumbled softly, looking around hoping that no one would see this moment. It wasn't exactly something he wanted his cabinet peers to see. But his mind was back to Alexander when he heard a choked sob from the smaller man.

"S-sometimes I look at t-the sky and t-think that one o-of the b-brightest stars i-is him," Alexander began, pulling away from the hug and looking up at the sky, "and he's with my mother, and my brother, and Laurens..." Thomas frowned a little and sighed, following his gaze to the stars.

"I'd like to think my wife is up their too..." Thomas muttered, taking Alexander off guard. Alexander looked at Thomas quizzically before it set in.

"How many stars do you count at night?" Alexander asked. Thomas sighed and stared up, thinking.

"Six... no, seven." Thomas replied, sighing a little before looking down at Alexander. "What about you?"

"Five... and an extra twenty for the men I lost on my command... but five that I knew." Alexander whispered softly, Thomas going back to look at the stars.

"Alexander..."

"Yes Thomas?"

"Let's not add an extra star tonight, alright?" Thomas looked averted his gaze as he spoke. Alexander smiled a little before replying,

"Okay..." He looked back to the stars.

"Thomas?"

"Yes, Alexander?"

"You're a dick."

"Fuck you too."
