A/N: Before you read I would like to explain that this story is set up as if one direction never happened(sorry). It starts off in present time and will explain the story through flashbacks I hope everyone enjoys.;)
Summer 2018 (present time)
"And they were happily married and grew old together with many children of their own. Life was perfect."
After reading the last sentence of my novel, I angrily close it and throw it across the room. Life is not perfect. Life doesn't end with happily ever afters. Books are lies, lies that are meant to be read by the dreamers. I have never hated books this much in my entire life. After I got my bachelors degree for writing a couple of months ago, I went straight into brainstorming ideas for my first novel, but I can not write a book if I have no story and at the moment, I have absolutely nothing.
Lately I have been so stressed out that I have not had any spare time to relax. I need to get out of this boring apartment before I go absolutely psycho. I grab my keys from the key ring holder and walk out of my apartment door. I have to go for a drive because if I was in this lonely apartment for one more minute I might break down. Driving is peaceful to me, but I have not had any time on my hands to do it lately.
I get in my small light blue Corolla and take a deep breath. I try my best to put all of my stress in the back of my head and forget about everything for now.
Music has always calmed me in an unexplainable way, so I decide to turn on the radio. In the past. I knew all of the best hits and every single lyric to each of them, but that was at a much simpler time. I don't think I have turned on the radio in about two years. I tap my finger on the steering wheel to the upbeat song that I am not familiar with. When the song ends, another one starts.
At this moment, I finally feel free. It seems as if it has been years since I felt this emotion of liberation. I feel relaxed and loose. As I drive down the South Carolina roads, I look out of my window and see the beautiful sight of the beach in summer time.
Summer has to be, hands down, my favorite season. Nothing can beat going to the beach, laying under the sun, and getting a golden colored tan. I can't even remember the last time that I have done that, it has been so long.
After a few boring songs play, a certain song starts to play that catches my attention. It starts off slow with the sound of a piano playing. It sounds really familiar, but I cannot remember where I know it from.
When the singer sings the first line, my heart stops because I remember exactly where I have heard this song before."Just stop your crying it's a sign of the times"
I slam on breaks without thinking and look at the name of the artist that is listed under the song title. I read the name and my body goes numb. All of a sudden a million memories flood into my brain and I cannot think straight.
At that moment I see his eyes. The eyes that are the color of a forrest after it rains. I see his smile. The smile that shows the dimples that carve into both of his cheeks.
I suddenly become aware that I am in the middle of the road when someone beeps their horn at me and I hurry to press the gas before any more cars come. I quickly turn around and head back in the direction of my apartment, still not completely aware of anything but the song that is still playing on the radio.
I get back to my apartment and run in as fast as I can. I hurry and pull my phone out of my purse and type his name into Google. When I click search, an album cover with a picture of his bare back pops up and I click on it. There are a list of ten songs. I quickly go to iTunes and download the album.
"Oh my God," I whisper to myself in disbelief of my new discovery. Once the album is downloaded, I connect my phone to my Bluetooth speaker and press shuffle on my phone.
The lyrics to one of his songs from the album flow through my apartment as he starts to sing the song titled "Ever since New York."
