With the latest edition of the Harry Potter series in one hand, and a Butterbeer frap in the other, Madeline fought her way threw the crowd of people in the grummy staircase to make it to an elevator that would bring her to her office which was too high to take the stairs.
She sipped her sweet drink and continued reading trying to keep her bag on her shoulder as Harry yelled expelliarmus in her head. She finally reached the elevator and attempted to press the un-sanitized button with her elbow. She waited as she finished the last chapter of her book putting it back in her Ravenclaw messenger bag. She waited patiently some more as other people walked by, late for meetings or reunions or just wanting to get the first donut out of the box in the kitchen.
Her lift arrived with no one in it, assuming everyone had gone up to their respectful offices. She stepped inside and pressed the button for the 28th floor, almost at the very top. The doors closed and she was almost there when the ride suddenly stopped abruptly and the lights dimmed down to an almost pitched black area. Madeline didn't know quite what to do in this situation, so she sat down and sipped her butterbeer.
Heavens no! She pulled out her phone and dialed 911, there was no signal. She turned on her flashlight and looked for an emergency phone in the lift. And of course there was one, but it was out of order. Just then a light appeared on the grate above her. She thought she was getting saved. Someone had come to save her. But no, instead a dark haired young boy appeared upside down. His brown locks covering most of his face. He jumped into the elevator and greeted her, as if it happened everyday.
"Hello!" He beamed. Madeline stared at him in shock.
"Would you care for a mint?"
