I slept in his bed again. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. He's probably straight and I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment. Surprisingly, I'm okay with that. I just have to remind myself that no matter what, he's my best friend and I'll still have him in my life, whether that means romantically or not. Either way, I'm fine with that.
It's a lot later in the morning and I'm brushing my teeth when Ashton pops his head through the door. "Hey I put some cinnamon rolls in the oven if you want some. They'll be done in a minute. Thought I'd let you know so Luke doesn't eat them all."
I smile to myself and nod. I spit the minty foam in the sink. "Okay, yeah."
I style my hair, spiking it up in a few places and sweeping my fringe to one side. Then I go into the kitchen where Calum is sitting on his phone and Ashton is making tea. Luke is playing "A-Team" on the guitar. He's always grumpy until he's played guitar.
Ashton abandons his tea for a moment and sets down a tray of cinnamon rolls covered in melted icing. They smell like actual heaven. "Have I ever told you how much I love you?" I take one off the pan and bite into it.
"Not nearly enough."
"Back off, he's mine!" Luke says jokingly to Ashton from the couch.
"Easy tiger, he's the one who said he loved me."
Luke smiles. "Well, everyone loves you Ash, so it's okay."
Ashton fakes a smile and turns back to the kitchen. It's like I can hear his thoughts, "Not everyone" and "explain the hate I get". And I realise that these are thoughts I've had before. Sometimes I really want to reply to the haters and tell them to fuck themselves, but that's just letting them win, knowing they've offended us.
"What time is recording today?" I ask, trying to change the subject and redirect Ashton's thoughts.
"About 2 hours." Calum says.
I nod my head and sit down next to Luke who's just put down his guitar. He has a plate of two cinnamon rolls in front of him and a glass of milk. I smile at him as he takes a massive bite of his food. He get frosting on his nose and it takes all my willpower to not wipe it off for him. I laugh and tap my nose at him. "You've, er, got a little..."
"Oh," He says sheepishly and wipes it off. It's funny how something as simple at that can embarrass him.
"You ready to record 'Voodoo Doll' today?"
"Yeah. That's definitely one of my favourite songs on the album."
"Mine too." I agree. "I don't know if it's just the title of the song or the actual song, but I really like it."
Ashton sits down next to me, back to his normal upbeat self. "I like 'Good Girls Are Bad Girls' the best."
"That's cause you helped write it!" Luke says.
Calum joins us. "My voice is almost gone." He says, his voice cracking.
"Don't talk!" Ashton says. "Just whisper. Maybe it'll get better."
Calum nods and whispers this time. "I hope."

We're already done with recording for the day--Calum's voice did come back, thankfully--and we've just gotten back home after eating at a place called Cafe Below in central London. It's pouring outside, and the thunder is incredibly loud with blinding lightning. We're all tired and I'd give anything to sleep but it's only 7 o'clock, and I know I'll end up waking up at 4am if I go to bed that early.
