Boom....scratch...boom...scratch.
I sit straight up in my bed and look around. Luke is sound asleep and so are Ashton and Calum. I, however, was woken up by something coming from the hallway. It sounds kind of like someone dragging their feet across the ground with weights tied to their ankles.
Nope. Now way. This is not fucking happening.
"L-Luke." I whisper, my voice cracking a bit. I shake his arm.
He slowly rolls over and opens his eyes a little. "What?" He says, sounding kind of annoyed. He hates being woken up.
"There is a sound coming from the hallway."
"A sound?" That catches his attention. "Are you just messing with me? Cause it's not fucking funny."
"No, I swear just--just listen." I say and we both quiet down.
Boom...scratch...
His eyes widen and he burrows deeper into the covers. "Oh my god."
I scoot closer to him. "What do we--" I stop mid sentence to listen again. "Holy shit it sounds like it's coming closer to our room."
"Shut up, Michael!" Luke says.
"No I'm serious."
Calum sits straight up in his bed, making Luke jump five miles and making me let out a wimpy sound. "What is that?" He says.
"I don't know!" Luke whispers.
Calum shakes Ashton awake. "Hmm?" Ashton says, still half asleep.
"Do you hear that?"
"Hear what--" Ashton sits up too. "What the hell?"
"Should we check it out?" Calums says.
"NO!" Luke and I shout simultaneously.
"Well, now I'm curious." Ashton says. "Cal and I are going to see what it is. Stay here if you want...big babies."
"We're babies?" I scoff. "You two were to afraid to sleep by the window. What happened to that?"
Calum and Ashton are already getting out of their bed. Calum turns to me. "It'll be fun. C'mon, don't be such a wuss."
I shake my head and Luke just gets further under the covers. "Fine." Ashton says before he and Calum go out the door.
"Fuck." I whisper under my breath and get up to go after them.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm not going to let my friends get possessed by Casper the ghost." I say. Luke gets up behind me, staying so close to my side I can feel his breath on my neck--at least I hope that's from him.
We meet the other two outside the room and head down the hall towards the noise.
"This is fucking stupid." Luke says.
"Shh." Calum hushes him. We edge slowly down to the middle of the hall where there's an opening with a large door. Calum puts his ear up against the door. He quickly pulls back. "I heard something in there."
"Guys, this is really stupid." Luke repeats, but the two idiots open the door anyway, leaving me and Luke no choice but to follow.
We're all quiet when we enter the room. It's a massive ballroom, with a marble floor and crystal chandelier hanging above. The only light coming in is from the moon outside, so it looks incredibly creepy. It's like a stereotypical horror film scene.
