And there he was - Tom was descending down the stairs. Blair gave him a smile and cleared a space for him on the couch. Right before he sat down, the doorbell rang. He got back up and walked towards the front door. He was back in a moment.

"Pizza time!" He smirked.

Blair suddenly felt hungry. The warm box in his hands looked very appetite wetting. He put down the box and looked at the movie she had picked.

"I see you like action movies?" He asked.

"Yeah. Do you like this one?" She held up the third installment in the Mission Impossible series.

"Yeah, this one's cool," he said and took the box out of her hands to install the disc.

Blair cuddled in her blanket and soon the movie had started. They spent a good few minutes fighting over the blanket, giggling as they did it. By then the screen showed the scene where the main character stepped aside from his wife to have a quiet conversation with his spy colleagues the wife knew nothing about.

Blair frowned and took a breath. "I don't understand how can you keep something like that a secret," she muttered. "I mean, I know he wants to protect her, but they're family.. The same as you and your mom.." As soon as she said that, she froze and bit her tongue. Trying not to show she was petrified at this moment for disclosing confidential information, she just pulled back her hair from her face and reached for a slice of pizza like nothing had happened. Leaning back, she caught a glance of Tom, who was looking at her, his face decorated by confusion.

"What do you mean? What about me and my mom?"

Blair gulped. "What about you?" She tried sounding very chillll.

"You mentioned me and my mother. Why?"

"You're family, right? I was talking about families. Sorry, bad example," she was rambling now. "I have no family of my own, so.." The last part seemed to calm Tom down. He exhaled.

"Okay."

She took a bite out of her slice and tried surpressing her panic. The one thing Vanessa asked her not to do! Vanessa took her into her home and Blair almost destroyed everything. She finished her slice, but did not feel hungry anymore.

They watched the rest of the movie in silence. As soon as the credits rolled, Tom got up from the couch.

"I'm going to bed," he said and walked towards the staircase. He knew something was not right - he was not an idiot. He also knew his mother probably was not a through and through saint, altough he doubted the extent of her shady dealings. But he never had any proof. Right now it seemed Blair said something she was not supposed to say, but she looked the type that would never cave. He could try to flirt with her... but while he excelled at that when drunk, he was not sure he'd risk it now. So he decided to give up and go to bed. At some point he'll have enough evidence to confront his mother, but up until then sleep was always the right answer.

"Goodnight," he heard Blair's voice behind him. It was uplifting and, turning around, he saw her smiling. He realized that tomorrow morning he'll go to school and when he comes back, she probably won't be here anymore. Is this the way they wanted to end their knowing each other? No, not like this. His shoulders relaxed and he managed a smile.

"What are you going to do?" He asked.

Blair's eyes lit up and the corners of her lips twisted a little bit up. "I don't know. I'll probably have a smoke, maybe stretch out after all this sitting and.. I'm definitely not sleepy." She shrugged.
