"Percy! Use your powers!"
"I'm not magic, Piper!"
"If we could just calm down-"
"Calm down? You don't even like Leo!"
Frank looked at Piper, defeated. He covered his ears as everyone bellowed at each other.
Leo was missing. They'd been on the sea for 10 days. Annabeth asked Leo's old cabin to create a massive ship to find Leo. It worked, but Leo could've created the same ship if he was just bored next to the shore.
No. Not old cabin. Frank refused to believe that he was dead.
He was getting fed up with all the screaming, he walked to the cabins (again, nothing compared to Leo, and his whole cabin took part) and found Hazel wrapping her arms around her legs, her eyes closed, gems hovering over her as she silently murmured to herself.
Frank, naturally, was terrified. He was scared that if he sat next to Hazel, he'd get a whooping from a diamond. So, he cleared his throat from a safe distance of 10 or so feet away from her. Regardless, she still looked beautiful. Her chestnut curls were hovering slightly, giving her the appearance of an angel, but the feel of an oracle. Hazel attracted but scared the living daylight out of him.
"Leo?" She murmured. The gems dropped down and her halo of brown curls dropped, down, framing her rounded face. She opened her eyes, still as golden as her cursed gems, and stared at her boyfriend.
Frank's face dropped. Even him not being here, all Hazel could think about was Leo. No, thought the son of Aries, she's thinking about the disappearance of her friend.
"Hey Hazel." He slowly walked towards Hazel as if she was a bomb about to explode at any given moment. She raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything.
"What..." He began.
"I was trying to see if I could find out if Leo was near death," she responded, shrugging as if nothing happened 10 seconds ago, "and also was distracting myself from being sea-sick."
"What have you got?"
"He's not." Hazel grinned. Her face lit up, eyes bright. Frank frowned as it reminded him of Leo. "I have to tell the others the good news!"
Hazel pulled Frank, a funny sight as a young girl ordering a massive man around, but Frank obeyed. Together, they ran up to the deck. They weren't arguing anymore, but he wished they were. His heart wouldn't have been as broken as it was now.
Piper and Jason were cradling each other, crying on each other's shoulders. Annabeth and Percy stood close by, deep in discussion. Occasionally, they looked at the mourning couple, shaking their heads, not knowing what to say or do as they were also fearing the worse. Hazel and Frank looked at each other then back at the scene, Hazel gripping Frank's hand tighter. This was probably the most PDA thing they had done for a while.
"Shoo," Percy mouthed, looking at Jason, "go back to banging each other or whatever."
Hazel gave a confused look whilst Frank blushed. He then regained himself and rolled his eyes.
"Me and Hazel did not do..." He looked around, as if he was worried that his family would scold his for his vulgar language, "that. She was actually telling me some good news."
"That she's adventurous?" Annabeth asked.
"No!" Frank exclaimed, disgusted. Silly hormonal 17 year olds. "Leo's not dead!"
Jason and Piper looked up. Jason wiped Piper's last tear.
"You hear that, Pipes?" Smiled Jason, his voice cracked from all that crying, "Leo's still out there."
"He said he'd go to free Calyspo." Percy recalled. "I promised that I'd help him in any way I could."
"But that's impossible." Piper insisted. Frank looked at Annabeth, showing how he was wondering how Piper was so defensive. Annabeth looked back at him and shook his head, in a way that told him to dismiss the thought. Reluctantly, he agreed.
"Well he did swear on that river to succeed."
"That river?"
"Yep."
"That was stupid."
"Well," Percy said, looking out as if he was trying to recall something, "he's had 10 days to figure it out."

*

They had been on the ship for 2 days and no monsters had attacked. Gaia really had properly slept for the ocean to be this peaceful. Frank had finished being on watch, although it not being necessary caused him to conjure up new animals for him to try (he found a way to turn into a quagga. Best to search that up). He walked the long way to his minute cabin, checking Hazel's cabin to see if she was asleep. Regardless of it being 2am in the morning, she still was awake, immersed in a book. Her luscious hair was tied up into a messy bun, her cocoa legs crossed on her cream duvet bed. Frank smiled and opened her door. Her book nearly dropped on the bed from shock.
"Oh! Frank!" She exclaimed, but then smiled. She patted a spot next to her bed and Frank sat down, her bed creaking a little as he sat down.
"Oh my," he sighed, pulling up his shirt and staring at his belly, "I need to get on a diet."
Hazel looked at him in shock.
"What? Your build is so muscular. You're the physically strongest demigod I know."
Frank smiled at her, not thoroughly believing her, but appreciating what she said. He turned his body towards her, silently praying that the bed wouldn't creak. It didn't.
Frank looked at this beauty and felt like a failure. He knew he wasn't a proper boyfriend. He loved her to bits but it seemed so... friendly. Annabeth and Percy's teasing didn't particularly motivated him to do anything, but it just showed how others saw what he saw. No, he didn't want to do stuff like what they were suggesting with Hazel yet, he wasn't ready for that, but he just wanted to be a proper boyfriend.
And a detail that most people missed; she just turned 14.
"What?" Hazel asked raising an eyebrow.
"I just really really..." love you. It wasn't hard to say. But he felt like that wouldn't cover it.
Hazel hugged him tight.
"I do too, Frank." She pulled away and stared at Frank. She pulled a loose hair behind Frank's ear and pulled Frank towards her. They kissed, a passion and sadness poured into the kiss as if they hadn't seen each other for years.
Frank pulled Hazel towards him, placing her on his lap. His stomach stirred as he felt a feeling he hadn't felt before. He needed Hazel. He was starving for her. Hazel's tongue asked for entrance and instantly he obeyed. They hadn't kissed like this before, but it seemed truly natural, as if it was a routine. Hazel tugged his worn out shirt and he fell on top of Hazel, his hands tugging her messy bun, instantly loosing it all. It felt like eternityy, but it must've been only a few seconds or the would be gasping for oxygen.
"Sorry to wake you up, Hazel!" A deep voice bellowed. Jason. "You decent?"
Frank instantly got up, breathing heavily as if he just recovered from drowning. Hazel was doing the same.
"Um," she started, not knowing how to answer, "what's up?"
"Wake up Percy and Frank, please. We found Calypso's island."
