Great. Hazel was the only one not down.
Leo was in dire condition, Piper exhausted and Calypso drained. Hazel tried to not move Leo too much in case of broken bones, keep Piper and Calypso cool whilst guiding Festus to Camp Jupiter.
It was going to be a long three hour flight.
Hazel knew Leo was not going to die, she could sense it. But, he was in critical condition, and if he could just wake up, she could fed him ambrosia. Just enough that his limbs won't fall off when he fidgets.
Calypso was the first to awake. She got up and started to panic.
"Why... why am I tied down?" She asked in between short breathes.
"Just so you didn't fall off whilst I was tending to Leo." Hazel responded. Calypso looked down at her boyfriend and her eyes widened. Hysterically, she pulled off her rope and tried to sprint to Leo whilst on a massive, flying dragon made out of metal.
"Are you trying to run on a massive, flying dragon made out of metal?" Hazel asked, looking at Calypso.
"You're right," Calypso admitted embarrassingly, sitting back where she was, "but is he going to be okay?"
"Only thing I can promise you is that he's not dead." Hazel told her.
To be honest, it was really good news.
Hazel kept Leo's head resting on her lap and looked up to the past goddess, who's face was filled with dread. Calypso's cinnamon-smelling caramel hair that was braided over one shoulder had a slightly white streak in it.
"Hey. You got a white highlight in your hair." Hazel pointed out. Calypso lifted her braid and cursed.
"Fashionable." She groaned.
"It's an achievement." Piper assured her. "Percy and Annabeth had it too and apparently showed it with pride."
"They carried the sky?"
"They're very very strong." Hazel told her.
At that moment, Leo started to cough. The girls drew their attention towards him.
"Ah. Help. Ouch." Leo was saying. Hazel shushed him and handed him ambrosia.
"Tastes like Calypso's cooking." He murmured before drifting into a deep slumber.
"Never knew you could cook." Hazel said, raising an eyebrow.
Calypso and Hazel then proceeded to talk about cooking until they reached Camp Half-Blood.
*
"Hey, you're back-" Cecil started. His face dropped when he saw Hazel carrying Leo in her arms.
"No time to talk. Get Leo help." She told the campers who immediately rushed to get the vice head doctor. She was a pretty blonde with long, curly hair and soft, hazel eyes. Her hair was in a messy bun, probably so hair wouldn't reach her face, and following her were three other campers from Apollo.
"Hi, I'm Sabina." She told Hazel. She lifted Leo's fragile body and placed him on a sort of open casket. Hazel fumed. He wasn't dead.
"Why the casket? He's alive. I know he is. I'm a daughter of Pluto. I know more than anyone on this camp that he isn't dead." Hazel was nearly shouting, but the girl wasn't fazed. She just turned to the other healers to take Leo away.
"It's just easier for us to carry him, that's all. Pluto? Are you Roman?"
"Yes. Hades is what you'd call him." Hazel told the group. Some of the campers flinched, as if the pale, all-fearing God was in their faces at that very moment.
"Interesting. Like Nico, you can sense the dead?"
"I'm more of the riches version of him, but yes, I can." She told her. She was starting to get fustrated. Why was this girl trying to start a conversation when her friend was currently in a life-threatening state?
"Look, Sabina." A voice stated. Calypso. "You seen super interesting but my boyfriend was squeezed by my father, Atlas. Now, can you check on him or should I force you to?"
Sabina raised her eyebrow and looked at Calypso, as if to challenge her.
"Like father like daughter." She muttered. Calypso ran to her but Chiron quickly got in between them.
"Calypso. Do not ever fight anyone here. We don't condone it." He ordered to Calypso. She mumbled a sorry.
"And Sabina. Calypso was right. You should be checking over the patients. And don't say 'like father like daughter'. You see her hair? She held up the sky, for us. Was Zoë like her father?"
Everyone hung their head, except some campers and Calypso's group in the quest. Who was Zoë? She must've been important for everyone to seem upset.
"Now both of you. Dish duty for two weeks. Sorry." Chiron said, blatantly not apologetic.
"Sorry for nearly jumping you. I've just never done this quest stuff and I'm super agitated." Calypso told the girl. She put her arm around Calypso and smiled.
"It's okay. Sorry for agitating you. And thanks for saving everyone's life."
"Lovely friendship. But I'm not taking any time off you guys doing dishes."
The girls groaned and Chiron sniggered. He walked away and the campers dispatched and went back to whatever activities they were doing.
"Leo's the only patient we have right now, so that's why I wasn't there. But I can still do an extra checkup for you guys, if you want. Just come with me."
Piper, Hazel and Calypso walked with the doctor to the infermary.
*
"Usually, it's super packed." The girl points out. Doctors were relaxing, watching TV, laughing. Hazel clinched her fists. How dare they relax whilst her friend was in danger?
Sabina looked at Hazel's face. "There's 5 doctors on him. Don't worry."
They got to a room and there was Leo, eyes closed, multiple tubes stuck in him. He was paler than usual, nearly like Nico was. Hazel looked at Calypso and Pipee, who seemed like they was about to cry. The walls and furniture were immaculate white. Hazel hated the colours. Why was the theme white so favoured, purity and perfection, when an infermary was full with pain and loss? Was It to distract the campers?
"Three broken ribs, fractured right arm and a slightly damaged lung. Luckily he was fed ambrosia, or he would've died. The ambrosia fixed his lung before it stopped working. Surgery will commence around 12:00 tomorrow and he'll be okay. He'll just need to make sure he's always in a clean environment for about a month to not overwork his lungs."
Sabina looked at the demigod and sighed.
"I know, he's the master builder. But dust cannot enter his lungs. No building or poor environments for three weeks. Do you want us to keep him here to make sure he doesn't do anything, or do you think he'll actually follow the rules?"
Hazel thought about Leo actually listening and not doing anything to harm himself. The idea was so ridiculous she nearly laughed.
"Leo, listen? Never. Keep him here. And surgery's fine." Piper assured her.
"Brilliant. Chiron probably doesn't want you to do any activities today so relax! You deserve it, heroes."
