Once I got to the palace, I got out of the carriage with Serenity in my arms and immediately took her to one of the guest rooms.
I notice that the maids looked at me in shock when I walked past them since it was unusual for me to be holding a girl in my arms. I had never been with a woman at all in my life. This resulted in everyone eventually concluding that I was gay which I'm not but I don't judge anyone by their sexuality. Everyone that's got feelings is human whether it's hatred, pain, happiness or any other emotion.
I placed her gently on the bed and called one of the best female members of the hospital to come over now. I preferred for a female to work with her as I know Serenity will be more comfortable around her. I know that they won't let me down since I am their King.
A woman arrives ten minutes later with a huge suitcase of equipment that she will use and politely asks me to leave just so she can change Serenity into something less restricting. I didn't mind as I didn't want to invade Serenity's privacy. Then once I was allowed back in, I noticed that the doctor, whose name I don't know, already had an IV placed in the crook of Serenity's arm. Afterwards, she was checking on the deep wounds that scarred her back. She cleaned them once again even though Derrick had already done so and started to stitch them up because they were so deep. Once the doctor was completely sure that the wound wouldn't reopen whilst resting, she covered them carefully with a bandage and fastened the bandage with a special type of medical tape.
It wasn't a pleasant sight but once it was done, the doctor turned Serenity over and instantly noticed a cut on her knee which looked quite bad but not as bad as the cuts on her back. They were easily disinfected and bandaged up.
Now that the sight of blood was cleared from my vision, the doctor gave an overall check-up of the woman after I told her that she was homeless. She nodded and ran some tests. It was all a blur as I focused on the woman lying before me but I did notice that she wrote things down on a piece of paper, shaking her head in disapproval. It didn't look good at all. I hope she's not too bad, she was a great role model for the people of Pembroke. Someone they admired. She was always in a positive mood especially when she was homeless. It's something that one could appreciate.
Then the doctor puts a liquid into her IV. What was it?
"It's some medication for her fever, it's too high, your highness. This is very fatal. She's malnourished, has slight hyperthermia and this fever isn't doing her any good. It's only a matter of time until we can know for sure if she'll be okay. I will put some nutrients in to help the body hopefully but I don't know how well that will go." I nodded and she continued to do blood pressure, heart rate and temperature."Hopefully, she should get cooler by the evening but at this stage, this is something that I can't control. Let's just hope her body can fight this. Her blood pressure is too low and her heart rate too fast but that could just be due to the fever. The fact also that she lost a lot of blood from the cuts is making this whole situation worse. It might be best to check on her every half an hour. I would recommend someone to stay here with her, she's very fragile at the moment and anything could happen your highness." I went over to the bed when the woman was lying unconscious. I hope she wakes up.
It would be a loss to our kingdom. A woman like her, so kind and full of life, doesn't deserve to die. She's worth more than anything in this world.
Helping the people of Pembroke may not be much but she helped them reunite, I thought it was going to take years but it took only a day because they all agreed that she is worth something to them yet they treated her horribly. She never got a home or a shelter. Not even some food or money. How dreadful? The best person got the worst treatment. She was someone that should be treated like a goddess.
