Serenity POV
After a while of talking, he stood up and offered me his hand. I looked up at him to see him smiling down at me. I took his hand and he pulled me up to a standing position. I felt a small tingle in the hand that he was holding. It was something new but I kind of liked it. I admit staying here is a dream come true but I don't get why I was chosen, there are so many people worthy of living like this.
I appreciate that he has done this for me and his kindness is indeed contagious. Luckily, I've caught on.
"Where are we going?" I muttered softly to him as he led me out of the dining room.
"Why?" I looked up at him and saw a playful expression which made me blush ever so slightly.
"Um, I'm just curious." I joined in with the playful attitude as I felt slightly more comfortable around him.
"Curiosity could get you in trouble one day, my little dove." He chuckled at his remark and continued to head towards the back door. I knew that he was joking so I didn't take it too seriously which I would have normally done.
"Well... I..." He chuckled even more at my speechlessness which made me blush so much that I probably looked the colour of a ripe strawberry. I was embarrassed.
"Aww look at my little tomato. All speechless because of me." I blushed even more profoundly which I didn't even think possible. The lord continued to laugh at my state which made me giggle ever so slightly.
He looked like he was enjoying himself and frankly so was I.
He guides me through the house, telling me of his and the king's plan to improve the lives of many people in the kingdom. It made my heart flutter that he was so generous and kind. He would make a great leader.
He opened the back door, and I felt an instant chill and shivered. I wasn't wearing much clothing but he did say that we would be out here for too long. We headed into the garden which wasn't anything over the top but I kind of liked it that way. It was a beautiful meadow and the fact that it had a layer of snow made my jaw drop in astonishment. It was so beautiful like a winter wonderland.
"I know right, it's amazing. It's one of the things that I couldn't ever change since I started living here. It brought back good memories." He reveals, placing his hand under my chin to close my mouth and I looked up at him to see him looking at me almost mentally asking me what I thought of it.
"I've never seen a landscape as beautiful as this and to see the view of the kingdom just makes it even more perfect. If I may ask, my lord, how long have you lived here for?" I asked since I want to get to know him more. He was a very interesting person. After all, he is a Lord.
"I lived here for as long as I can remember which I guess is from birth. I can't leave here either since this was passed on through to our ancestors. Now, what did I say about calling me, lord Vera? Please call me Michael." He mentions and I was genuinely surprised that the generations of his family have lived there and that they plan for future generations too.
He would make a great husband to someone.
Wait, where did that thought come from?
"That's amazing, to have a castle that runs through the family and always have some form of memory here. I don't even think I've got anything of my parents anymore." I smiled sadly up at him. I didn't want to ruin the mood but I felt like I did.
"I'm sorry about your parents, especially your mother. It's a shame really that she died in such circumstances and that you were treated the way you were. However, my mother use to say something that has always stuck with me. It was that fate has strange ways of guiding us. Those who have a painful past will more likely have a happy future. In your case, I know it's hard for her to be gone but if it didn't then we wouldn't have met. After all, she will always be in your heart as a memory. Cherish it." I smiled at the way he made me feel a lot better about everything and I appreciate him for it.
