Serenity POV
I stood there on the balcony, so dazed by what has just happened. Everything is happening all at once and being scared is an understatement. I thought that I was gonna be punished but they let me off. He treated me like a queen. Not that I was one though. He also wanted to care for me. He was willing to give me a roof over my head, food and heat yet I didn't have anything to give him in return.
This was all building up too quickly and I didn't like it. It made me question life. It made me question myself.
The fact that he was willing to give me everything and accept nothing in return made me lost. Nothing is free in life.
I looked over the snowfallen kingdom especially as the mansion had a brilliant view of the whole area. The Lord was a close acquaintance of the King and therefore deserved the next best place in the kingdom apart from the palace.
He insists on me calling him Michael but I don't think I can. I'm not of his status so why should I have the privilege of calling him by his name? I don't know. My head spins trying to get through everything. My heart and brain aren't even cooperating. They both want different things. One says stay, one says go.
The King wants to speak to me personally. I don't know why. There's nothing that I've done worth meeting the King for. I never turned up to his meetings, I've never even seen the man. So why do I feel that there's a deeper reason? Something that no one is telling me but I just need to think about. That's what I'm doing now, isn't it? Thinking. I'm not sorting anything. My mind keeps wandering and not focusing on the subject at hand and that is, should I stay? The thing is though, how long will it be before he throws me out again and I become homeless once again?
These thoughts spin in my mind like a continuous record player.
"Dove, what are you doing out here? It's freezing. You're not even wearing a jacket. Come inside before you get sick, I'd rather your inside, safe and warm." Yes, he's started calling me dove for some random reason. Dove represents peace and calmness which is something that I don't have. He placed his hands on my shoulders and led me softly inside the mansion.
I instantly felt the warmth of shelter blanket me and I didn't realise how cold I was until we went through the balcony door.
"I didn't notice, the cold. I was just thinking." I muttered to him. He didn't pry into the subject which I was glad about. We walked into the bedroom where the door to the balcony was but we didn't stop there. We went out into the corridor.
"I've been thinking myself. I've never given you a proper tour of the mansion. So I was thinking that we should give you a chance to explore. After all, from now on, what's mine is yours. So I think we should start at the top and work downwards then we can have lunch in the dining room." I nodded and followed him. We were apparently on the top floor already and there were three floors.
"You know this is your room so I won't need to show you in there. Next to your room, on the left, is the music room which has practically most instruments. You have all sorts from ukuleles, guitars, bass and violins to percussion instruments, piano, etcetera. There's also a microphone for singing if you are interested in any of it." I nodded in understanding and looked over the delicacy of the room in front of me. The wooded flooring was a dark brown but it was polished and shined to perfection. Every instrument was lined across the walls neatly.
We left that room and moved on. There were four other bedrooms similar to mine for guests which were not used very often as he didn't have many guests. They were to the right of my bedroom.
There was a cinema room for watching movies and performances. It was something that he wanted to have as it gave him privacy and the large screen made it such a better experience. The chairs in the room weren't like ones you would find in a normal theatre instead, they were kind of like mega-long sofas. It made it look and feel more comfortable.
