Stephanie POV

It's been only a couple of days since my accident with Tara and I've heard from the guards that as soon as the king left Serenity's room, he stormed towards the maid's quarters. He yelled for Tara and even seeing his angered state, she still flirted with him until she was told that she was to be locked in the tower. I haven't checked to see if it was true but I do feel guilty about her being punished. She was jealous of Serenity and she wanted the king to herself. She was very possessive and determined that she could get the full romantic attention of the king without any issues therefore she had to eliminate any competition. Along with that she also hated the fact that her friends got fired for unneeded flirting. She didn't like the fact that I was still here and yet her closest friends were gone so that's the reason why she hurt me.

She was right, I was below status so why should I get the promotion of working for his soon-to-be queen?

I eventually understood the king's decisions as to why he gave me this new job but it did take a lot of time to understand. As I got to know Serenity, I realised the king's intentions because we got on well. We spoke about all sorts from girly things to personal things but not too in-depth. The king has even consulted with me in regards to Serenity.

We've spoken about how to protect her because he's told me himself that he does indeed like her but hasn't said the L.O.V.E word.

I know that he cares because otherwise, he wouldn't be with her every minute that he gets away from his royal duties. To top it all off, he would neglect his royal duties to look after her whilst she was unconscious. He didn't even know the woman but cared for her as if they were already married. The only problem is that I'm confused as to why he hasn't told her the truth about her identity.

He's King Ricardo Valera, not Lord Michael Vera.

The sudden name change came out of nowhere, why didn't he just admit he was a King? What happens if visitors come in and say 'your highness' or 'your majesty. She's innocent and him being a Lord alone is something she's not comfortable with but what will happen when she realises she's living with the King? That would break her little heart. Heck, she doesn't even like shopping and when you are associated with the royal family, you are expected to wear expensive materials made of the finest quality. She will get spoiled and she won't like it. She is not fond of any form of attention.

We were talking about this yesterday before the King came in and I knew that she wasn't like the others, she was different. She had a different persona that got to me and made me relate to her. She was selfless, she didn't care about herself at all otherwise she would have a completely different personality which wouldn't suit her at all. I'm glad secretly that she's not like those stuck-up women. They didn't treat him like a king but more of a toy that they played with.

I just appreciated how great she was for the king even if she didn't realise who he genuinely is.

I think the main concern I had about her though was that she knew of Tara's attack on me which in all honesty kind of shocked me. Tara made sure that there was no one was there to witness. She wanted us to be alone but then again Derrick, one of our guards found me while going to his quarters on the west side of the palace. I was lying on the floor with bruises everywhere and bleeding non-stop. I'm glad that he found me but at the same time regret it.

I just don't understand how Serenity could have known. She was unconscious at the time of the incident but she described exactly what happened before someone even told her. The king was with her since she woke so it couldn't have been the guard. I wonder how she could have known.

Anyway, my thoughts were interrupted by a scream which for some unknown reason, I knew that it was Serenity. I jumped into my wheelchair and sped towards her room. I hope she's okay. Oh gosh, she's such a nice girl and I'm glad I've met her. I pray nothing is happening. I waited by the door and slowly opened it. It was opened quicker by a figure standing next to me.
