Joaquin never really did respond to my question. He instead changed the topic and drove me home on his motorcycle.
The next day I woke up nervous but excited. Joaquin knocked on my door at about noon and I went with him to the Whyte Wyrm.
"Welcome to the Whyte Wyrm," Joaquin says as he holds open the door and I walked inside. There was loud music and the occasional sound of a glass bottle breaking.
"Why are we here?" I ask.
"Well, if you want to be part of the serpents, you have to know the serpents," Joaquin explained.
"Alright," I say as we walk over to a group of serpents.
"Guys, this is Kevin, my boyfriend. He's one of us."
"He sure does look a lot like the sheriff's son," a tall, rough looking guy growls.
"That's because he is," Joaquin says as everyone starts to raise their voices and threaten to throw Kevin out.
"Guys!" a girl with pink hair intervines, "What is the problem?"
"The problem is that Joaquin thinks it's okay to trust a Northsider," the man angrily shouts.
"Did you even listen to what Joaquin has to say. Maybe he brought him here for a good reason, Mustang," the girl argues.
"Thank you," Joaquin says, "Like I was saying, Kevin is one of us. I trust him and if you think for one second that I would even consider putting the serpents in any danger then you are wrong."
Mustang just scoffs and walks away.
"Sorry about him," the girl says, "he can be distrusting, to say the least."
"It's fine. I expected criticsm, being the sheriff's son and all."
"Well, if Joaquin trusts you, then I do too. I'm Toni by the way," she says.
"Nice to meet you," Kevin replies with a smile.
Joaquin looks around and notices people starting to get restless and stare at Kevin. "We should probably get going before someone gets hurt."
"Good idea," Kevin says as he grabs Joaquin's hand and they walk out.
"Where to now?" Joaquin asks.
Kevin thinks for a second. "We can go to my place. My dad is out of town so we won't have to worry about him."
Joaquin smiles. "Alright, let's go."
They both get onto Joaquin's motorcycle and head to Kevin's house.
Once they get there Kevin unlocks the door and they head inside.
"What do you want to do?" Kevin asks as he sits down on the couch and Joaquin sits next to him, "We can watch a movie or play a board game or-,"
Kevin is cut off by Joaquin's lips.
"Or that," Kevin says and continues to kiss his boyfriend.
