15) Heather

"Okay guys," Cheryl says as she stands up, "I have an announcement to make. Toni and I are officially dating."

"Cheryl, that's great," Veronica says with a smile and Cheryl sits back down next to Toni.

"Does your mom know?" Kevin asks her.

"Oh yeah. She caught Toni and I kissing in my room. It truly was a spectacular conversation starter."

"I bet," Kevin replies.

"I'm just glad that I get to call you mine," Toni says as she intertwines her fingers with Cheryl's.

"Me too," Cheryl says and squeezes Toni's hand.

"I'm so happy for you guys," Betty chimes in and Cheryl smiles at her.

Everything in Riverdale was perfect. At least, in this moment, everything seemed perfect. Soon Mr. Weatherbee opened the door of the student lounge with a girl standing next to him.

"Attention, students," Mr. Weatherbee says, "we have a new student. Please welcome her into our school with an open mind. Thank you." He then walks out of the room and back to his office, leaving the girl in the doorway.

"Hi," she says shyly.

"Hey, come sit," Veronica says as she pats the seat next to her.

"Thanks," she says as she walks over and sits down. "My name is Heather."

Cheryl and Toni look at each other and back at her.

"Well, my name is Veronica. To my left is my best friend Betty and her boyfriend Jughead," Veronica starts introducing everyone. "Sitting over there is Kevin, Joaquin, Fangs, and Sweetpea. That's Moose and Reggie standing over there. Josie, Melody, and Valerie are over there and last but not least, to my right is Cheryl and Toni."

"Wait," Heather says, "did you just say Cheryl?"

"Yeah," Veronica says, "This is Cheryl, the one with the red hair, and this is Toni, her girlfriend."

Heather freezes. "Cheryl as in Cheryl Blossom."

"Yeah, how did you know?" Veronica asks.

"Heather? That's really you?" Cheryl stands up and so does Heather.

"Oh my god," Kevin whispers.

"I haven't seen you in forever," Cheryl says. "What brought you back to Riverdale?"

Heather shifts uncomfortably on her feet.

"What's wrong?" Cheryl asks her.

"I came back for you," Heather says quietly.

"Heather, I'm sorry," Cheryl says and looks back at Toni who nods and Cheryl smiles at her before turning back to Heather. "Do you want to go somewhere and talk? Just the two of us."

"Yeah, that would be great," Heather says.

"Alright, follow me. I might as well show you around too." Cheryl says as she walks over to Toni and places a kiss on her cheek before walking out of the lounge with Heather following behind her.

Once Cheryl left the room it was silent until Betty spoke up, "Toni, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm not worried. Cheryl knows how to handle herself and I trust her."

"So," Heather says, "Toni, huh?"

Cheryl smiles, "She's quite possibly the best. She never gave up on me, even when I tried to push her away."

"I'm happy for you," Heather says.

"Thanks," Cheryl says. "Did anyone in particular catch your eye yet?"
