[A/N: just to let you know guys, not all the one shots will be this long AT ALL! It's more of a mini story, but please enjoy still! :)]

Jayde flew over the top of Metropolis, smiling against the cool breeze on the warm summers day - it was good to feel freedom. There wasn't many days she could fly peacefully through the air without Eggman or Jet yelling after her, either for a race or a battle.

But this day was about to get a whole lot surprising for her.

Azure eyes caught glance of something so familiar that she had to do a double-take. However, no one could mistake those red and black quills. Below her, in the forest outside Metropolis was a familiar ebony hedgehog - but he looked different.

Was he wearing armor?

Chuckling, she glided down beside him and tapped his shoulder. Quicker than she could blink, a sword was thrust towards her, it's point touching the tip of her nose, leading her to jump back and fall off her board, "Whoa, Shadow! Chill out!" she laughed nervously, raising her hands up in surrender.

"Who are you? And who is this Shadow you speak of?"

"Um, you?" she laughed slightly, frowning.

"I am not this Shadow of whom you speak. My name, is Lancelot, Knight of the Round Table and most trusted to King Arthur." the stranger spoke, his sword still held firm in his grasp.

At least I know why he's dressed different.

"Wait, you mean like in those story books?" Jayde asked, lowering her hands and placing a hand on her hip.

"I do not know what you speak."

"Never mind," Jayde spoke, "You're not from here are you? How'd you get from the Medieval times to now?"

"I was battling a stray beast from the former Queen Merlina when a bright light transported me here. Where am I, might I ask?" Lancelot spoke, lowering Ardonight.bI feel like I must protect this girl, he thought, she's strangely familiar and yet, I cannot place her.

"Well," she scratched her head. How was she supposed to tell him that he was now in the modern era, far disconnected from his timeline? "You're currently in Metropolis."

"I'm sorry?"

Jayde laughed slightly and walked closer to him,  noticing his fighting stance hand been dropped, "You're in the future, Lance. This time is thousands of years away from the Medivial era."

Lancelot seemed to freeze, "I must return! Merlina still poses a threat to my Kingdom, even if Sir Sonic defeated her."

"Whoa, wait, Sonic?" Jayde paused, "You mean, blue hedgehog, speed of sound - all that rubbish?"

"Yes, that is him! He returned to his home after helping us rebuild our Kingdom." Lancelot told her.

"Well, he's in this timeline. Though he's probably battling Eggman right now." the grey hedgehog spoke, leaning down to grab her board.
