Sonic One Shots

One Shot: 4 - Alone

He stared at the stands outside the fence before turning his emeralds to the grubby glove sat on his hand. Eyes closed, he sighed, "I really am alone."

He could feel something building up inside him, throat tightening before he removed his helmet and began to run, "All alone, forever."

His feet carried him, circling the pitch, fists clenching as he glared straight forward. Soon his body became no more than a blur, electric bolts cascading down his frame before the energy built up. He leaped into the air with a yell, energy disbursing all around him in a blue explosion.

Sonic sat up from his bed, glancing around the room. Every now and then he forgot that he no longer lived in the cave and would be confused about where he was but it was always Tom's or Maddie's voice that would bring him back to reality.

"Sonic, we're taking Ozzy out, you coming?" Tom's voice broke the silence.

Sonic's ears perked up, but the dream came back to his memory and he frowned, "No, it's okay. You guys go ahead."

He heard a few mumbles of 'see you later' and 'don't burn the house down', to which he chuckled at, before the front door close.

The blue hedgehog sighed, leaning back on his racing car bed, arms behind his head. He was the only one like him. He hadn't seen any other anthropomorphic animals wondering around this planet. For a while, he never saw this as a problem. He was unique in that sense and no one would come after him for his powers. Those creatures that Longclaw protected him from, what were they?

Despite being hunted by everyone for his powers, he missed his home. He missed the freedom of running without worry, he missed the loop-ti-loops. But he knew going back could only bring more harm that good.

With a stretch, Sonic stood, running in place to get his blood pumping, "Besides," he grinned to himself, "No one can beat my speed."

His day started like normal; a quick run around the woods was enough to quench his thirst for freedom, for the meantime anyway, before racing around his room doing random activities that would satisfy his boredom.  He kept running around until he crashed into the back wall, the remaining rings he had falling from the perch they sat on and scattering across the floor. He swallowed, his immediate thought to panic.

But when would he need them again?

He finally had a safe place to live, no one was coming after him - Earth was fine now. Sonic collected the rings quicker than they fell before staring at the map. Now that Robotnik was trapped on the mushroom planet, no one here could be that power thirsty to try and catch him - not that they would have much luck.
