Monday soon rolled around and my chaotic weekend spent in bed had ended. Monday morning I woke up in sheen of sweat, fearing the worst when it came to school. I'd have to see Niko in order to give him the letter for the restraining order; the formal one that asked him to go to court. I had forgotten that I chose to hand it over directly for dramatic effect so I looked more badass. I knew that in reality, I'd be shaking, there may be tears, and I'd have the whole Host club to back me up.
I then thought about the questions I'd face when everyone saw my own bruised face, and Hikaru's too. Would they put two and two together? Would they think we fought between ourselves? Would they think we were attacked? And if we were attacked – why weren't the rest of the Host club attacked?
My own mind's interrogating thoughts caused me to rush out of my house, into my car, speed to school and run past all the students who were slowly making their way inside. I pushed and shoved past everyone in an aggressive fashion. My hair was in a messy state and I still wore make up from the day before - there was a mascara smudge on my left cheek. I stumbled round the pink corridors, lit by the glowing sunrise, in a coffee deprived state after a sleepless night. I knew the Hosts would meet in the club room before registration like always, so I headed there. I had a good twenty minutes.
I found them all standing around the room, chatting lightly with a few laughs until I had burst into the room through the already open doors and closed them behind me with a loud bang.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THE COVER STORY GOING TO BE?" I yelled, grabbing Tamaki, who was the closest, by the shirt and shook him wildly with new found strength.
Hunni-senpai gasped and tugged Mori's arm. "I don't think she's had coffee this morning," he whispered worriedly. Mori nodded with a gruff mumble, his eyes concerned for everyone's safety knowing exactly how bad I could get when sleep deprived and without coffee.
"WHAT'S IT GOING TO BE?!" I screamed, continuing to shake Tamaki senseless until the twins had prised me off him. Tamaki watched me in shock, lowering himself into a chair, a dull aura throbbing around him. He ordered the twins to instantly bring me coffee and for Hunni-senpai to fetch some tea to calm his nerves.
I was soon settled onto one of the chairs, a fresh cup of steaming coffee sitting warmly in my hands. I gulped down half of it before anyone knew it was safe to speak.
"By cover story, I guess you mean for the injuries Hikaru and yourself acquired?" Kyoya questioned knowingly, poised ready with his notebook open and pen in hand to record all details.
I nodded.
"You both tripped down the stairs?" Haruhi suggested.
"AT the same time?" Hikaru scoffed and looked at me with a smirk.
"Well, Rin can be that clumsy," Kyoya sighed.
"Hey!" I yelled, spilling a drop of coffee on the floor, making everyone take a step back. "No offense, but that's a dumb and a too-well used excuse. And how would we both get two black eyes and a bust lip between us? And no, we can't have the excuse that me and Hikaru were fighting, or that we were jumped because that brings too many questions within itself."
"How about Mitskuni and I were training you both?" Mori suggested, "And you both got injured."
I looked at him both tiredly and angrily, "As useful an idea as that may be, I don't want to seem completely incompetent."
"Hey, that's makes it look like I got of worse than you!" Hikaru moaned.
"That's because I'm stronger than you!" I shot back with a smile.
