"Allison!" I hear a familiar voice shake me awake. I blink a few times to fully recognize the figure hunched over me. It's Drake. I try to get to my feet but stumble on the way up. Drake helps me. I look around to see us in a fire lit room and the walls clearly looking like they are made of obsidian.
"Where is everyone?" I question to Drake's clueless face.
"I don't know? When I woke up, no one was here." Drake replies.
Suddenly, I feel myself stop examining the room for a moment to think. I face towards Drake who's obviously looking for an explanation.
"They couldn't have just left us. Could they?" Drake wonders.
"No!" I snap but immediately. I pause for a moment to allow my eyes to analyze the room. "Something is wrong?" I notice that the room has no doors or windows. We're trapped. They must've known we were coming. We can't be completely trapped. There is always a way we can get out. "Drake, look for a panel or something that could activate a door." He nods and steps off the podium I am now realizing that we were laying on. It makes a click. Drake whips his head around at the sound. "Shit," I mumble to myself. Drake's eyes widen as he starts for me. But before he can step back onto the podium, fire circles around me. Cutting me off from him.But this situation seems familiar to me. Too familiar. The clicking starts to become louder and louder. I glue my eyes shut to try to remember what I did in my dream. What did I do? Then it comes to me. "Drake, look for a lever on that wall over there," I exclaim to his worried face.
He leaves my attention to feel for something on the wall. He's clearly panting hard and nervous. His pants become louder as the clicking gets louder. After a few more moments, Drake's hand rubs over hollow metal. Using his strength, he hits it. It breaks open to reveal a lever. He waist no time to pull it. It latches downward.
Then I hear a hiss in the fire as it emerges an exit. I sprint out and Drake yells, "Down!" He jumps onto me to protect me from the blast. The room shuts on us as the blast goes off inside. I cover my head from any debris and Drake wraps his arms around me. Shielding me. There's a long pause before we collect ourselves. We're safe, for now. I can already hear Drake breathing hard, trying to steady his heart rate in relief. He gets up from on top of me and then his firm hand out to help me to my feet. "You okay?" he questions.
"Yeah," I reply.
Then once I've collected myself, I recognize where we are. We are in the corridor from my dream. We both stay silent as we start down the hallways full of rustic doors. But after minutes of cautiously walking down the hallway, we stop in our tracks when we hear footsteps coming from around the corner and to the next hallway. I pull out my kunai's and Drake pulls out his claws. We stand ready and slide against the wall where they will be turning the corner. Ready to jump at it. The footsteps get closer and louder. I clench nervously on the leather grips that I have on my kunai's. My hands start to sweat anxiously. When the figure comes out to reveal itself, I threaten to slash. But it puts up his hands innocently. It's Noah.
"Wait!" Noah scarcely exclaims.
I let out a breath of relief. "Dude!" Drake assures. Noah puts down his hands to see us and he also lets out a long breath of relief.
"Man, thought I was done for. You two scared me." Noah anxiously says. Once he gathers himself together puts a serious face on. "Where they hell is everyone?" he questions just as exact as Drake did when he asked.
"Not sure," Drake replies, "Did you wake up in a ticking time bomb room?"
"Yeah, how'd you know that?" Noah wonders.
Drake immediately bites on his lower lip and gestures to down our hall where ash and debris scorch the ground.
"Oh." Noah realizes with his brightly open reveal his rich chocolate brown eyes.
"Well, c'mon. Let's go find the pack. We might even run into Scott, Chris, your mom, or Ava." Drake intents.
We continue down two more hallways with what I remember before in my dream till we meet a dead end. Just like my dream.
"A dead end." Noah curses.
"No, not a dead end," I assure. I can already feel the insecurity that Noah feels right now. I cautiously reach to touch the wall. Slowly and steadily I feel for a solid surface. But to my surprise, my hand materializes into it like a ghost. I step forward. I have never gotten this far in my dreams. What will I find? Will I like what I find? Then turning around to meet Noah and Drake's eyes.
"C'mon." I signal.
They exchange worry looks with one another and follow me through the wall. When we reach the other side my eyes widen. What the heck am I seeing?
"What the-" Noah says taking the words right out of my mouth.
What we see isn't humane. Were meet with a ginormous cave with blood dripping down the walls and a ceiling of human skulls. When I step forward, something grabs it. I look down cautiously to see a bloody exposed flesh hand holding it to the ground. Before I can grab my kunai from under my tattered dull green jacket. A hand from the bloody wall grabs my wrist.
"Allison!" Drake exclaims. Before Drake can react. Both of his feet are glued to the floor by bloody human hands. Noah attempts to go to our aid. But suddenly he's violently pulled to the bloody wall. The gnarled hands grip on his arms and legs. Not allowing to move a muscle. He's about to yell when they wrap around his mouth. Turning his words into a muffle. I start to tug at the hands that keep me still but the grip becomes harder.
What the hell did we just get ourselves into?
