Old Friends

"It's been a while since I've seen you, Caroline," I greeted, smiling. Caroline was a good friend of my mom's when she lived in Mystic Falls. She had come to visit my family soon after my birth and our relocation to New Orleans. However, I don't remember much, I was around five years old.

"I know! You've grown up! You look so much like Elijah," Caroline stated as I rolled my eyes slightly. This was only, oh, about the 100th time I've heard that.

Someone cleared their throat. It was Uncle Klaus. "Caroline, love, would you fancy a drink?" he asked smoothly.

She looked from me to my uncle, and smirked, "I can get it myself." Caroline glanced back to me for a second, "I'll see you later, Konner," and walked away from us.

I looked to my Uncle Klaus, standing in front of me, and saw that he was smiling, watching Caroline walk away. I chuckled at him; clearly he still loved her and she cared for him too. Yes, I've heard their story many times from my mother and Uncle Klaus.

"She's still playing hard-to-get, hm, uncle?" I asked him.

He didn't respond. In fact, his smile only grew wider.

This will be very entertaining to watch.

Elena's POV

My arm was linked with Elijah's as we talked to numerous people. This was really boring to me, but I put up with it for Elijah. As Elijah was talking to some people, my focus landed on a familiar figure that I haven't seen in a very long time. I that Caroline? What is she doing here?

"Elena, what do you think?" Elijah asked me, bringing me out of my gaze. Crap. I had no idea of what they were talking about. I looked at Elijah then to the people in front of us, "Would you excuse me?" and unlinked my arm, walking off in Caroline's direction.

As I made my way towards her, I suddenly bumped into someone and looked up, "Sorry, I-"

I stopped completely when I saw who I bumped into. Damon Salvatore.
