Roseeeeeeee. A voice echoed. I bounced out of my duvets and sat in shock.

''Sh, don't be frightened.'' A shadow responded.

Swiftly, I turned my side lamp on and my jaws dropped. She was stunning. A woman of pure light, stood at the end of my bed. She was wearing a shimmering, gold gown and had wings as white as snow. She couldn't possibly, be a regular angel, could she? I noticed I was awkwardly gaping at her so, I immediately snapped back to reality.

''Um, I'm...''

''Rose Hurston, I know.'' The woman interrupts.

''How do you know my name? Who are you and how did you get here - if you don't mind me asking?''

''I am sorry to disturb you so late at night. I am Queen, Ariana Francesca De Lockwood of the angel world.'' She responds.

''It's an honour to meet you, your majesty. But, do excuse me. I have never heard of you before.'' I say, politely.

''It's okay, dear. Many people have not heard of me as, I only visit those who require my assistance.''

''Oh, but what assistance could I need from you, your highness?'' I ask, confused.

''There's something you should know but first, can I ask you a few questions.''

''I guess, yeah.''

''Have you experienced severe bleeding and pain from your back – more than the rest of your body?'' She interrogates.

''Yes.''

''Have you felt a little out of control lately and experienced heightened emotions?''

''Yes.''

''Hm. Do you mind if I examine your wounds? I want to make sure there are no difficulties during your transformation.''

''Yeah, okay.''

She looks at my wounds and observes my back longer than usual. I feel distressed. Why didn't mom tell me about the queen? I wonder if she's hiding other things from me too? I ponder. Ariana steps back and looks at me, the way a mother would her child.

''Did your mom ever mention anything to you about a special gift?''

''No, not that I am aware of. She's only told me the basics about angels, demons and the fallen - I think. Is there something I should know?''

''Have you ever heard of the quadrant?'' She asks me.

''Nope.''

''They are the most powerful angels on earth and sadly, there are only a few remaining. When a quadrant is born, he or she is marked with a rune so, when it comes to their transformation stage, I can distinguish who they are.''

''Wow, but why are you telling me this?''

''My dear, you are one of them. A quadrant. You are a breed between an angel, warlock, a mythical creature of the heavens and... A demon. It is an honour that has been bestowed to you.'' Queen Ariana, tell me, proudly.

I am speechless. I don't know what to say, feel or do.

''I don't have a rune though.''

The Queen stepped closer and uttered a few words in celeste – the angelic language. I felt a slight tingle on my arm and searched for where the sensation was coming from. There it was. A rune of what seemed like a rose and some other fine, elegant details surrounding it. 'My' rune.

''So, was it invisible all this time?'' I ask, continually gazing at my sudden rune.

''Yes. Since the day you were born. It is sealed from everyone's eyes but mine and the quadrants. Even the angels are not allowed to see the rune in case they mean you harm – regardless of whom they may be. I have unveiled the rune so, it can be seen by your eyes. It's time you embrace who you are.''
