¿Kathrine Wallace?
Pinkerton Agent, V.P.
So many thoughts flew through my head as a gripped the steering wheel of my new car, my knuckles turning white.
I gritted my teeth and glared at the car behind me through my rear view mirror.
'Oh the things I would just love to do to him....' I growled in my mind and the cheeky little voice in the back of my head replied, 'Oh Kate, we all know you would miss him too much!'
I only shook my head and gripped the wheel tighter. Why was he so relentless? Couldn't he just take a hint and forget about me? Well he was trying to do the same thing as me, trying to find who killed my brother....but he was trying to find a murdered, I was trying to find ruthless killers bound to start another war soon.
I could only imagine the dangers Alex was oblivious to. This was why I didn't want him following me; I had a plan, and I didn't want him to get hurt. My mind traced over the familiar scars on my skin and on my heart as I pulled up to Benny's gate and was let in, Alex following closely.
•Detective Alexander Radley•
Badge 17726
I drove behind Kate, my mind overflowing with questions that were begging to be answered.
As we drove I noticed we were driving farther and father from the city and towards Laguna Beach, where those who can afford large houses reside.
As we pulled up to a wrought-iron gate my eyes widened at the elegant three story house we had arrived at. It seemed to be built into the cliff and took my breath away.
Two men in spotless uniforms came out and took Kate's car and my own and drove it to the spacious garage and Kate grabbed my hand and pulled my into the mansion without a word.
As soon as we stepped in we were met with a beautiful view of the ocean, the wall was completely glass and had couches facing the outlook into the rocky beach.
But she didn't hesitate to take in the ocean as she dragged me towards the elevator and pulled me in. Stepping out on the second floor we took a right and walked into a large study with an old man who held his head high with pride, he must be important. He had been looking down at a file when Kate literally pushed me down into the leather seat on the other side of his desk.
She glared and opened her mouth to say something but before she could, two girls came running in shouting, "Grandaddy! Is this another agent? Katie!! Is this Nathan!?" The younger one squealed as she jumped on my lap and the older one walked over and lifted her sister off me.
She shyly and softly apologized to me and stood in front of me looking down at the small girl. "Lily, Grace, this isn't Nathan, this is Detective Alex..." Kate said softly and her eyes saddened as she picked both girls up and whispered something to them causing them to giggle before she left the room, closing the door with her bare foot.
"So you're the famous Alexander Radley?" The man finally asked and I slowly nodded my head.
"Might I ask who you ar-" I began but he cut me off.
"You know I knew your father back in the day? Good man, good man. How is he doing?" He asked looking at me right in he eyes.
"Well, good sir. Excellent really. He's about to retire but may I ask who you are?" I asked quickly and he smiled and stood up, walking to the front of his desk and sat on the sturdy wooden table.
Holding out a hand, which I took slowly, he smiled and said, "Franks, Benjamin Franks. Now let's get down to business. You know about us, but you shouldn't. Normally we would have to send you to a deserted island where no one would look...but you could be useful. You see, the Pinkerton's don't really get along with the Police. You all think you're the top of the food chain, but in reality we are. I would like to offer you a job. You wouldn't have to leave you're current one...just assist us when it's needed." He said and I leaned forward and asked, "What exactly would I do?"
"Well you would help us get information and the police would of course get all the credit for what we do, since we don't exist..." He smiled and gave me a wink.
I nodded my head slowly and he smiled. "Great! So it's settled! I got Winfrey to collect your things, you'll be staying here for a while since it's no longer safe out there." He said and walked towards the door.
"Wait! Why isn't it safe?!" I called out and followed him, but once I set foot out of the door he seemed to vanish.
