•Detective Alexander Radley•
Badge 17726
I hadn't been anywhere since those two agents took me from the alley when I had lost Katie. Even though my life was at risk I could only worry about Kate. Where was she? Was she alright? Was she alive?
I shook my head, as of trying to get rid of such a foolish thought and went over the plan again and again. They were taking me somewhere, I just needed an escape route. If Katie was there I'd grab her and run. No matter what I'd just keep running, and never look back.
Just as I started formulating a plan those two agents returned and grabbed me by either arm, not uttering a single word. I was not so gently tossed into the back of a black SUV, with a woman who gave me a gentle smile.
She was dressed in a nurses outfit and had a name tag that read 'Becky'. Just as I began to ask her what was going on she was escorted out of the van, but not before giving me a note addressed to Alexander Radley. My heart beat quickened as I recognized the handwriting; Katie was alive.
"Good luck Alex." She called out and winked at me before waving. I blinked slowly and looked down at the note again and as the car drove off I read Kate's letter.
¿Kathrine Wallace?
Pinkerton Agent, V.P.
After Nathan whispered soothing words between every kiss I was sent back to my room, and didn't have to wear the handcuffs. I smiled realizing I could actually do this. But I had become fatigued, I could barely walk without wobbling. I needed to get my strength back. Ripping the sheets on my bed I bandaged my wounds and for the next few days I only drank the water I needed and stored the rest.
I did a hundred pushups every few hours and would run back and forth across my small room four hundred times every day. I lifted my bed every hour until my muscles burned then did it ten more times. I was healthier every day, everything was right, well unless you think about the fact that I was trapped and would surely be killed or forced to live out my days here, but other than that I felt fine.
But then one day I found myself lying on the ground unable to move. I screamed out to a guard who came rushing in and began panicking. I was getting better and better every day and suddenly the lack of blood caught up with me. I had been working too hard and was dying. Blood was coming out of all my cuts and it hurt like nothing else I'd ever felt, well besides that nasty shot.
Nathan began panicking and finally called in a nurse. She would be kept in the dark and I was threatened to keep my mouth shut. One word about captivity and she'd be dead. Nurse Becky came in and tended to my wounds. She ordered the guards to bring me actual food, such as meat and vegetables and clean cold water. While they were gone she wrapped her arms around me and hugged me tightly.
"Katie." She whispered and I hugged her back tears in my eyes. "Becky. How did you get in here?" I asked her and she smiled. "Daddy would never leave you here, he sees you like another daughter, so sent his oldest daughter to bring his baby girl home." She said smiling happily, she had Benny's smile and his eyes too. She was Benny's only child though he wished he could have had more girls but his wife was killed because of his job.
Becky was a nurse and traveled around the world, leaving her two girls with their grandad. I had grown close to Becky while babysitting her girls, she Skyped almost every night before I had 'died'. "Darlin, you didn't have to nearly die to see me again, dying once would be enough. I hoped you liked your eulogy." She chuckled and I laughed softly and flinched in pain, my chest growing heavy. "It was beautiful. Now stop this aching before I kill myself." I said and she rolled her eyes and got to work.
By the time the guards returned I was bandaged up and my mouth watered at the sight of a beautiful cheese burger and a Caesar salad. I devoured it and savored the cool clean water. Becky was going to get sent back, believing she was saving a woman who had been attacked my a wild animal while hiking. As I heard the guards walking towards my cell I wrote down everything she needed to know and wrote a message to Benny and then Alex, but Becky said she hadn't seen Alex for two months, he wasn't there when she arrived, which was the night we were taken. Worry consumed me and caught Becky giving me a comforting smile. "We'll find him darlin, right after we get you out of here." She whispered and gave me one final hug before she was escorted out of the warehouse and into a black SUV.
