¿Kathrine Wallace?

Pinkerton Agent, V.P.

My eye twitched as Grace and Lily raced around, trying to decided what they wanted me to be. I was pretty sure they would choose a pretty princess like usual but I was hoping for a warrior assassin who's mission was to find and destroy Detective Alexander Radley.

How could he be so nosey?! That's my personal life, and out of all the people in the world it had to be him to read every single page!

I would be having strong words with the District Attorney's Office, Steven shouldn't be so careless! He's one of our most trusted and highly respected agents and he decides to be careless now?!

I sighed and shook my head. 'Don't worry, he'll be out of your life soon and everything will be alright.....' I reassured myself and the cheeky little voice returned from coffee break. 'You know you'll miss him!' It sang and I growled, "Shut up!"

Lily and Grave froze and stared at me, my eyes wide as I clamped a hand over my mouth. "Sorry....zoned out for a bit, didn't I?" I asked and soon they were skipping around again. I felt bad, but I wasn't in a dress up mood. Six years feeling nothing but pain made you want to do anything but pretty princess tea-parties.

I excused myself and stepped out just as Alex walked out of Benny's office.

"I suppose you're leaving? I'll escort you to the door!" I smiled widely happy to get him out of my hair.

He laughed slightly and ran a hand through his own messy dark hair and I caught myself biting my bottom lip. I glared slightly at him, aiming it more to myself and he only smirked. "Actually, I'm staying."

"What?! Why! If you have a flat tire I'll happily help you get a new tire! I'll get the phone if you need to call your dad....I'll even give you a ride! I have an extra umbrella if it's raining...I-" I rambled eager to get him far far away.

"I have to get acquainted with my new partner, she has to teach me more about the Pinkerton Agency." He smiled and my eye twitched again. Do I still have diplomatic immunity? Either way I'm sure it's easy to hide a body, right?

Kate glared at me and clenched her fists. "Benny!" She shouted and he shouted back, "Katie, play nice!"

She huffed in frustration and stormed off towards his voice. She began bickering in frustration until she came back with a worried expression and sat down in the leather couch, patting the spot next to her.

I cautiously walked towards her and sat down. She smiled slightly and said, "I promise I won't bite."

"Listen Alex, I know you promised you would do your job and you want to find who killed my brother, but I'm a big girl. I've taken care of myself long enough to know I don't need help. The last time I had a partner-" she began and I interrupted.

"I know, you got too close and he ended up dead. But Kate, I can handle myself out there. I don't care if what we deal with is dangerous. I just want to help y-" I said and took her hand comfortingly, only for her to pull her hand away in frustration.

"Haven't you noticed that everyone even remotely close to me ends up dead sooner or later? Alex I don't want you dead too! You have to stay away! I can barely live with all the grief, knowing all those people died because of me. Alex, if you stay, I'll have one more persons blood on my hands!" She said and I smiled slightly and took both hands and squeezed them.

"And if we succeed, your hands will be clean and you can live without the grief." I said and she stood up pulling her hands away to look at me.

She cautiously stuck one hand out to me and when I gave her a questioning look as she bit her bottom lip and said the one thing I didn't expect to hear from her. "Partners?"

I smiled slightly and stood up, my eyes meeting hers as I grabbed her hand and shook it. "Partners."
