Chapter 6

I've been packing all week. This is probably one of the most exciting things that will happen in my life. no lie.

Today I'm going over Luna's to discuss what's going to happen and what to expect.

We sat on her bed until she had a serious phone call she needed to take care of. Something about her friend almost going to jail. I whispered to her I was getting a drink and she nodded her head. I went downstairs, grabbed a cup, and began filling it with water. After that, I started walking back to her room when suddenly, I fell back against the wall. Hands grabbed my waist and breaths were lingering around my neck.

"Listen here." He started saying.

It was Wesley. He put his hand over my mouth so I couldn't yell.

"You ruin it at the cabin, I swear to God. and don't act like a fu**ing idiot near my friends. I don't like you, so get it through your head. I will never like you. k?" he stared into my eyes and I looked away. I was scared.

His grasp grew tighter around my waist.

"Get out of my face," his lips decreased distance between mine and it seemed like he was going to kiss me. Every now and then he would look at them. Which wasn't going to happen obviously.

Still in shock, I grabbed his hand to make him turn around.

"Why do you hate me?"

"You would hate me too."

Wesley rolled his eyes and kept walking back to his room.

I was confused. What did he mean?

Right as he disappeared, Luna came in and saw me standing there alone.

"You look like you've seen a ghost," she laughed.

I just stood there in shock.

"No but seriously, are you okay?"

I nodded my head and filled a cup of water, Playing it off like nothing happened.

"Let's go back up to your room" I grabbed her arm and hurried up the steps. When we got to the top, I peered at Wesley's door and it was cracked open. He was giving me a really mean look with his finger over his mouth.

I rushed into her room.

"I'm so excited for this trip," she jumped on her bed.

We got finished with the discussion and I got to leave.

"Can you walk yourself out? I need to take a shower before my uncle gets here," she motioned me and I agreed.

I ran down the steps fast with no sight of Wesley.

Once I got outside, I blew a sigh of relief until I saw him in a truck staring at me, still with his one finger over his mouth.

"Come here girl," he rolled down the window.

I just kept walking.

"No get away from me," I said sternly.

"You don't understand..." he backed up the truck, "Get inside."

"What makes you think I'm going to do that? Look I'm sorry for whatever I did to you but-"

"Layla. Get. In.The car." Wesley said my name. It was weird, and for some reason, made me stop and turn around. He opened the door, and I climbed inside.

Wesley backed up out of the driveway and drove slowly down the road.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked a little unconscious.

"More like, what am I telling you..."

I tried looking at him, as he was staring straight into my eyes. He wasn't even focusing on the road. Then he pulled into a parking lot and parked next to a bunch of cars.

He took a breath and punched the steering wheel.

"What did I do?!" I yelled.

"Agh!!!! Not you!!" he shouted angrily.

"Then tell me!"

"Your mom, she is getting married to my real father!!" he looked out of the window.

"What?"

"My dad. I haven't seen him in forever but I found out he is getting married. To your mom."

"...he told me the story. you just vanished on him? how could you do that to your own father." I began getting serious. This news was all so sudden for me. Especially when if Wesley wouldn't have told me this, I wouldn't even know for the rest of my life that he is my step-brother.

"You don't know till you're in my shoes."

"I know that you are a terrible person-"

"For those specific reasons...I'm not a terrible person I can promise you that." Wesley stared into my eyes again as I looked into the distance

"I'm not taking any promises, you practically abused me at your house."

"Well my fricken life is so complicated that's the only way I can get it out sometimes. Like, my mom is married to Luna's dad. Now my dad is getting married to your mom. So...I pushed him out because it raised my anxiety."

"Why didn't you tell him that?" I asked.

"He would never listen to me? Do you think I wouldn't have tried? I don't even know why I spilled all this to you...I'm gonna take you home."

"...no no, it's all right...thank you for telling me, it means a lot," I grabbed his hand and finally got the nerves to look into his eyes, and for the first time, a small smile appeared on his face.

"Can you keep this between us?" he questioned squeezing my hand.

"Of course," I smiled back and he drove me home.
