Chapter 25
Waiting for Friday was like waiting for a drought to end. But it finally came, and I was very happy. The first time I will ever put a dress on. I hated dresses. People who where a dress all the time are always stuck up and basic. I grabbed a backpack and threw a t-shirt and sweatpants in it just incase.
I curled my hair and everything. I heard a knock on the door and knew that it was time to go. I opened it and smiled widely.
"Hey beautiful," he hugged me," you look...different."
I widened my eyes.
"In a bad way? or a good way?"
"Good way," he grabbed my hand and brought me out to his truck. It still smelled like smoke and alcohol in there.
"Luna went to her Grandmas again," he said.
"And my mom went out with my stepdad," I then nodded my head, not wanting the smell to get inside my mouth.
He turned on the radio and "Rude" by MAGIC! was playing.
"What kind of music do you like?" Wesley asked.
"Um, well, usually rock/reggae or whatever is new these days haha."
His smile grew wider.
"What about you?"
"The exact same thing," he replied, pulling into the park.
"Oh thats awesome!"
We got out and he entangled our hands, walking on grass.
"I'm glad we are able to do things lime this," I said, entangling my hand into his.
"Same here. I just know I'm gonna have to be a man and confront my dad anytime now. The thing is, with you technically being my step sister...does that make it illegal?" he looked at me.
"I-I don't know. Lets not talk about the future. Think about that present," I said positively.
"I guess you're right baby," he leaned down and kissed my cheek.
"I always-" I stared into the distance to find what looked like my new step dad. Far away, I don't think he could see us, but he was talking to someone, a woman.
"Wesley. It's your dad," I pulled on his hand and ran behind some trees. Even if he couldn't see us, I wasn't taking any chances.
"What is he doing here?" Wesley peeked around the corner.
"Why is he with someone that isn't my mom? Did he lie to me? Where is my mom?" I began panicking. It was he himself that told me he was going out with my mom today. Where is she if she isn't with him?
"Luna it's all right," Wesley wrapped his arms around me,"just call her."
I reached for my phone and dialed my moms number. She picked up.
"Hey sweetie."
"Mom? hey where are you?" I asked.
"Oh well Mark dropped me off at the fitness center while he did some errands. Why, whats wrong?"
I blew a sigh if relief.
"Mark?"
"Your step dad. Thats his name."
"Oh. Okay well I love you bye," I hugged Wesley while hanging up the phone.
"Babe lets take a picture."
"Of us? Won't Luna see-"
"Of your dad!"
"Oh...yeah."
Wesley pulled out his phone and snapped one. As did I. The woman looked about in her late 20's with bright blonde hair. It seemed like they were very suspicious. Both wearing sunglasses, the hats, the jackets. Could anything get more obvious?
Wesley and I might just have to investigate more...not just once.
