"I'll get it!" I urgently jumped out of my chair and ran to the door. When I opened it, Wesley's hazel eyes stared delicately into mine.
"Hi Layla," he handed me flowers and was wearing a tux.
I smiled.
"Aww Wes you didn't have to," I kissed him as he walked in. Wesley grabbed my hand.
My mom widened her eyes when she first saw him.
"Hello," Wesley hugged her. Behind his back, she gave me a thumbs up like great job. I just rolled my eyes.
"Well her stepfather, Mark, had to go but he made the food so enjoy," Wesley was the most controllable when using manners. He is never this nice to anyone.
He pulled out the chair for me and I sat down.
Then, he sat next to me.
"I didn't catch your name," my mom said.
I looked at him and he looked away. At this point, Mark probably all ready told my mom what his long lost sons name is and I'm hoping Wesley got the hint.
"Josh...it's Josh."
Such a basic name, I thought,
"So...how long have you two been together?" she asked another question.
"Only about a week," he replied.
"I can't believe you failed to tell me about this! You seem like a gentleman Josh," my mom smiled.
Dinner went pretty well. I don't think my mom suspected a thing. After dinner, she stopped us as we went upstairs.
"Mark will have to be here to see you! And no funny business," she warned us and I rolled my eyes and continued into my room.
"That went well," I said shutting the door.
Wesley sat on my bed.
"If Mark would have been there it wouldn't have. By the way, is he acting okay?"
I thought about it. No he wasn't, but I wasn't going to tell Wesley that. It's the last thing he needs on his mind.
"Yeahs he seems okay so far," I replied. He smiled and sat down on my bed. I got pulled onto his lap.
I held onto both of his hands and smiled while staring into his eyes.
"I found you." he murmured.
"I, found you," I whispered back. Leaning in for a kiss, I closed my eyes. Butterflies began fluttering inside and I couldn't help but get goosebumps. Wesley rubbed my arms to decrease the chill out of them.
I grew silent when my mom yelled:
"Mark is home! Why don't you have josh run down here and meet him real quick!"
I stopped kissing Wesley and stared with my eyes wide open.
"Leave! Go out the window!" I jumped off of his lap as he finished his one final kiss.
Wesley quickly opened the window and climbed out.
"Ugh bye Lay," he said. I shut the window.
Then, I walked down the steps.
"Ohh mom he just left!" I said shrugging. Mark squinted at me and I was hoping he didn't realize what I was doing.
"That stinks! sorry Mark, he was a really nice guy. You would like him." my mom turned around and started cleaning up the dishes.
I went to go walk back up the steps when my arm was tightly grabbed.
"You better not be pulling anything on me," Mark, frustratedly said.
"If I were, you would know," I yanked his hand off and went straight to my room.
I had to take a shower, so I set out my clothes and towel, then locked the door. I never used to but now I think it is a necessity.
The water vapor steamed up the bathroom and fogged the mirror. I got inside, releasing stress from these past few days. I have to be strong. I can't let someone think they can come into my house and ruin my family. I used the tips of my fingers to write on the glass of the shower door. I drew a heart and smiled while writing W + L = <3.
"Were a thousand miles from comfort. We have traveled land and sea. But as long as I am with you. There is no place I'd rather be," I sang to myself.
I soon shut up when I heard the bathroom door shaking. My heart was beating rapidly. I took a peak through the crack of the shower door and looked.
"Mom?" I yelled. The door handle stopped shaking. I knew it wasn't her. I quickly finished and shut off the water, wrapping a towel around me. My clothes were out in my room but I wasn't going through that door unless I knew I was safe. My phone, thank God, I had brung in with me and texted my mom.
"Are you in my room?"
I waited till she texted back. My text tone went off and I hurried up and turned the sound off. He knew what I was doing now and I'm screwed.
"No honey, why? I think Mark went up there but Idk why he would be in ur room," she replied.
I set my phone down and looked around the bathroom. I made sure the towel was tightly around me. Violently, I grabbed the scissors that were in the cabinet and reached for the door knob. I didn't care who it was. I don't care that it is my step dad. I have to just stop him. I hate him. I do.
I trembled while opening the door. Slowly, it was now wide open. Scissors in my hand, I went to my clothes.
"Hello," A manly voice came from behind me and I swiftly turned around and held up the scissors.
"I will not hesitate!" I yelled beginning to cry slightly.
"You wouldn't," Marks voice lingered in the air as he came closer.
I clenched my teeth together.
"Don't make me!" I swung back right when my mom came into the room.
"Layla! How dare you threaten your step dad! What has gotten into you!" she grabbed the scissors from my hands and apologized to Mark.
"I don't know what I did. I'm sorry Lay," he said, acting as if he were about to cry.
"Don't call me Lay," I said angrily.
"Layla! Enough! There is no reason to-to be threatening people let alone Mark in this house! You're grounded!"
"Mom! I have never been grounded! Please you got to understand he tried to-"
"I don't want to hear it! Give me your phone! You will come down for breakfast and dinner but otherwise, you stay in your room!"
"Come on...I know she didn't mean it," Mark said.
"No! She has disrespected you and I'm done letting her be wild. No Josh!"
"No! You can't be serious! Mom! Please! You can't do this!"
"Watch me," she walked out of the room with Mark and he smiled at me.
I fell to the floor and began crying. Wesley warned me and I should've just told my mom from the beginning but I am in to deep now.
As I let tears fall from my cheeks, I soon fell asleep, waking up in the morning to have my eyes crusted shut.
I stretched and forgot I had given my mom my phone. How was I going to tell Wesley that I am grounded? Unless I sneak out but...I'm not good at lying and if I lie then...
