24. Beauty despite sorrows

The cool morning air woke me up as soon as I stepped out the door. I  listened to the murmur and soft lull of the ocean, with the occasional crashing of a wave against the rocks, and looked up. The sky was light up with colours: gold and orange, pink and purple, and all shades in between. And all the while, the birds twittered and chirped on the telephone wires. It is times like this that I momentarily forget the sorrows of this world, and my mind is transported to another, more beautiful place.

This is my first attempt at prose poetry, not sure if I'm doing it right. Any advice would be welcome.
I haven't updated in ages, I feel like my poetry mechanism has rusted up :)
But hopefully I'll be back into the swing of things soon, for a while I was afraid I'd never be able to write anything again.
Thanks so much for still reading my work, it always makes my day to read all your comments.
