I have been wanting to mark this book as complete for a while, but I have a few poems from the last few years just sitting unpublished in drafts that I have felt silly about publishing so I've just left it incomplete.
One of the poems is one I wrote for my mother's birthday and the other is one I wrote for Poets pub's fourth anniversary. Those two, while not very good are not the reason for my hesitation. The issue is that the third poem is entitled The Monstrosity That Is me and it is a very "angsty" teenager poem about insecurities and feeling like nobody would like you if they knew the real you. I no longer feel the way I felt when I wrote the poem. But it definitely accurately expresses how I felt at the time. I'm not sure if it fits in with the themes of the rest of the collection.
So my question is, should I publish this third poem even though the rest of the poems in here are normally quite sunny or should I just leave it out?
