Chapter 10 - Houstan, we have a problem

Chapter 10.

I wake up sweating, I get a big cramp in my stomach, "arghhh" I cry out, clutching my stomach. I look at my phone, its 5am, I stumble to the toilet and double over holding the side, I sit down on the toilet and see blood in my knickers.

"LUKE!!!!" I shout and start crying, "LUKE! Please come to the bathroom."

I hear him grumble and come into the bathroom, "What's the matter?" he says when he sees me crying, he looks at my knickers, "Oh shit, no no, let's get to hospital" he runs and gets changed into last night's clothes, bringing me some clothes in with his phone pressed to his ear telling his mum to meet us at the hospital.

I get up pulling on PJ bottoms and one of Luke's hoodies, he puts his arm round me and I cry into his shoulder. He leads me to the car and drives us to the hospital; we drive in silence all the way there and I cry silently. He parks and we head in, "Hi, sorry we need to see someone urgently my fiancée is 21weeks pregnant and she's been bleeding" he has me tucked under his arm.

"Please take a seat, someone will be here in a moment" the receptionist says.

We go over to the seating, "It'll be okay beautiful, just a little scare, nothing to worry about" he presses a kiss into my head. Gina comes through the door and as soon as she sees us she cries, "oh babies" she takes us both into a hug.

"Michaela?" a doctor calls, we go over to him, "My names Dr. Barratt, we're going to take you to have a scan and see exactly what's going on." A nurse brings a wheel chair and sits me down in it.

Luke's POV

"I'll push her" I say angrily to the nurse as Kayla gets in the wheelchair. I trying to hold back my emotions and be there for her, but it's hard. We get to the suite and I help her up onto the bed, she grips my hand with her shaky hand, I lean over and wipe her tears with my other hand, "shhh baby"

"Please lift your top" Dr Barratt asks Kayla, she lifts my hoodie up and reveals a slightly swollen stomach, he smoothes the gel over Kayla's stomach and puts the scan tool on and we see the image of the baby.

"Why can't I hear a heartbeat?" Kayla whispers, looking at the screen then at me, I shake my head, tears flow down my cheeks. "Luke, I can't hear a heartbeat" she sobs, my heart is breaking.

"I'm really sorry, it looks like I can't find a heartbeat, I'm afraid your baby has passed away, I'll give you a few moment" Dr Barratt leaves the room, my mum comes in, and see's us both, she starts crying too, "Oh loves, it'll be okay" I climb onto the bed with Kayla as she sobs into my chest. "I love you so much, be brave" I whisper into her hair.

The doctor comes back in, "we're going to have to take you to the birthing suite" he says looking down at his clipboard.

"I have to give birth?" Kayla chokes.

"I'm afraid so, but we'll do it as fast as possible." He says as Kayla puts a hand on her stomach.

"Luke" she cries, "I don't want to, Luke please"

I hold back a sob, "you heard the doctor, they'll do it as fast as possible, you need to do this" I climb out of the bed and stroke her hair.

"Please can I request a copy of the scan?" she says shakily.

"Are you sure that's wise?" I ask, she shoots me a dirty look, "I've carried this inside me for 4 months, the least I can get is a picture."

"Of course. Please take this tablet to kick start your labour; there will be a nurse here shortly." Dr Barratt replies.

Jai's POV

I actually can't believe that we're on our way to pick Kayla and Luke up from the hospital. They had a little girl, and we're going to have a little funeral at the chapel of rest in the hospital, how can we go from one day celebrating James' birthday to having a funeral for my niece?

We park up and head inside where Kayla's lay on the bed wearing a black dress clutching a piece of paper. I go over and kiss her head, she doesn't even look up, she looks so broken, and Luke's sat in the chair, watching her.

"You okay?" I ask perching on the arm of the chair, "Daft question, sorry" I say hugging him, and for once in his life, he actually lets me. Georgia, Katie, James, Skip, Aly, Jim, Rose, Gillie and Freddie are all here when my mum speaks up "I think we should go now everyone's here"

Luke goes over to Kayla, who has barely spoken to anyone since yesterday and puts his arm around her; I see that the piece of paper in her hand is a scan picture, heart breaking. We walk to the chapel of rest,

Luke speaks first, "Myself and Kayla would like to thank everyone for coming today, we decided to call our little girl Evie, Evie Brooks"

"I'd like to say a few words" Kayla croaks, her voice shaking, "I've found the perfect poem" she clears her throat,

"We don't want to cry anymore
But the pain won't go away
Our hearts are torn in two
Because our baby couldn't stay

God had other plans for you
Mummy & Daddy will get through this someday

Gina's POV

Jai's in the kitchen getting everyone a drink because I've got everyone back at mine. Luke and Kayla are sat on the sofa, everyone is scared to speak in case it sets someone off.

"Did they say why it happened?" I ask taking Luke's hand in mine.

He shakes his head, "They said it definitely wasn't anything to do with the beginning of the pregnancy but it's probably because the baby had too many deformities, she terminated herself. I don't think there were any reasons for the deformities." Tears flow down his cheeks.

"How are you love?" I ask Kayla who's staring straight ahead.

"I gave birth to my dead baby" she whispers as tears flow down, "I'm not doing too great at the moment."

"The pain will ease up babe, you're grandma will be looking after Evie and we're all here for you both" I hug them both.

"Thank you, we've got each other" she looks at Luke, and feigns a small smile.

"I love you princess" he says kissing her head.

"I love you too" she lays her head on his shoulder, "guy please just be normal for us" she asks.

"How about ordering a Chinese then? I'm starving!" Beau grins.

Kayla nods, "That'll be nice."

The boys get ordering whilst Kayla and Luke whisper about something.

I get a notification off twitter that Luke's tweeted and Kayla retweeted it, it's a twitlonger and reads,

"Hi everyone, sorry we've been so quiet the last few days. Unfortunately me and my fiancée Kayla have had terrible news. We've lost the baby; we're finding this a very difficult time and the moment and would appreciate the privacy massively. We love you all so much and want to say thank you in advance for the well wishes, we're struggling at the moment but we'll find our way soon, but please until then give us space. Lots of love Luke and Kayla xxxxxxxxxxxxx ps. We had a little girl and we named her Evie #RIPEvieBrooks"
