Chapter 34 - You're Getting Married In The Morning

Chapter 34.

"I got him back" Skip bursts into tears as well as his mum and dad.

Me and Luke look at each other with goofy grins on our faces before going over smothering them both in kisses. Everyone's smiling and crying so pleased for our best friend.

"You need to tell us everything that happened!" Jai grins patting the seat next to him. Skip sits down as I take Alfie from him, I grab the changing bag off John and change his nappy. Whilst I am, my mind wanders to the fact in a few months I could have been doing this to my own baby, mine and Luke's baby, Evie. I shake the thoughts from my head, there's nothing we can do or could have done but it makes me realise perhaps I didn't appreciate Luke as much as I should have and I can't think of a better father for my child. As if he could hear my thought's he appears, "do you need any help?" he smiles.

"You can put this in the bin" I laughing holding up a nappy sack.

"Anything for you" he grins taking it off me.

I put Alfie in his PJ's and smother him in more kisses, he giggles and looks up at me.

"Shall we ask Daddy where your toys are, or at least where you're going to sleep" I ask him, picking him up and placing him on my hip.

"You're a natural love" Gina comments, smiling, I pass Alfie over to her for a cuddle and she lights up, he's a big part of all of our lives, "he's trying you know?" she murmurs loud enough for me to hear.

"Pardon?" I look at her.

"Luke. He's trying"

"He doesn't need to" I give her a small smile.

"He thinks he needs to love. He's really sorry, he's been stupid but no one loves either of you as much as you love each other"

"I know" I nod, "I honestly know Gina, that's why I've not made a massive fuss and I've taken him back this quickly. Don't worry I'm here for the long run"

"Good because I want me one of those" she laughs, moving her head towards Alfie.

"All in due time" I laugh, I get Alfie off her and take him over to Theresa and John.

"Aw thanks love" Theresa smiles, "I can't believe he's going to be one next month"

"I know, crazy! This year has gone so fast!" I grin, "Who's going to look after him tomorrow?"

"I'm going to stay behind, we can't have him going into day care when we've just got him back!" she cuddles him into her as his eyes close.

"Really? Thanks mum!" Skip grins.

"Yep, we also need you out to celebrate with James, so I'll stay behind with him. It means I can also go shopping and get him lots of new things" she coos at her sleeping grandson in her arms.

"Luke, baby, why don't go and move the mattress from your room to the floor in Skips so they can put him to bed" I suggest.

"Of course" he smiles and traipses off upstairs.

"Don't forget you need to get Alfie a suit!" Katie grins, looking up at James. These two are too cute!

"So much to do" Theresa huffs but I can tell she's really happy.

"Right, I think we're going to get going now" Lisa says standing up, "Long day tomorrow and an even longer one the day after." All the other parents start standing up and hugging everyone, Skip takes Alfie from his mum and takes him upstairs to bed.

"Goodnight everyone" I say, seeing them out the door.

"Baby, your alarm keeps going off, you're going to be late if you don't get up now" Luke murmurs wrapping his arms around me.
