Felicity's P.O.V (Annabel's mum)
It had been two weeks. I constantly felt hungry or thirsty or tired or...
Helpless.
Part of me desperately hoped that Annabel wouldn't come. The other was sick of living. Well. It was barely living. Just existing.
Abbey had sent Rudi away to deliver the instructions to Annabel. Abbey had decided to- for the first time- buy her own shopping. So I was alone for a few hours. But, unluckily, there was just me, silence and no escape. To make it worse, Abbey left the key to my cuffs just out of my reach, meaning I could stare at them, but never quite touch them. I thought it would be a normal day.
Wrong.
Rudi arrived back first. He called for Abbey, checking each room thoroughly before hurrying into my room. His eyes darted around nervously, his fingers clutching the bottom of his shirt. He chewed his lip, something that sorely reminded me of Annabel.
"Okay. You need to cooperative with me right now, " Rudi said, his voice shaking ever so slightly.
" Wha-?"
" Don't say anything. I'm going to help you."
I frowned as he curled his fingers around the key and twisted it in the padlock. The cuffs fell away, leaving red, swollen patches of skin where the cuffs and deprived it of air and proper blood circulation.
" I don't understand-"
" Of course you don't! " He exclaimed, grabbing my coat. I pulled my phone out of my phone pocket and dialled Annabel's number.
It rang seven times, before going straight to answer phone. I cursed under my breath as Rudi beckoned me towards him hastily.
" We have to get out of-"
" Rudi? "
I froze as Abbey's harsh tone sliced through the air.
"What is going on? " She snapped, blocking any escape through the door.
Rudi began to chew his lip again, making Abbey purse her lips. She knew that sign. So did I.
"Were you trying to help her escape? " She spat the last word out with venom.
" Yes."
" Oh. What makes you think that you can do that? "
" What you're doing to both Annabel and Felicity is wrong. It needs to stop, Abbey, " Rudi replied courageously.
Abbey burst out laughing, clutching her stomach. I scowled.
" Have you even thought about your children? " I piped up.
" In case you hadn't noticed, they're better off without me, "she answered carelessly.
"Who's looking after them?"
" My ex," she growled warningly.
" All seven? "
" Yes."
She stormed towards me, her talons outstretched. But Rudi stood in her path and shoved her to the floor, his hands curled into fists.
" Run, " he murmured.
I hurried towards the door and cried out as Abbey grabbed my leg and I fell, landing awkwardly on my elbow. Abbey stood, obviously winded, and dragged me up.
" Back where you belong, " she hissed.
" NO!" Rudi yelled, hurrying over.
Abbey pulled a gun from her holster and aimed it at his forehead.
" Don't. Move. "
He froze, his face paling with terror.
She threw me back into my prison, jamming the door shut with a sweeping brush. I hammered on the door, sobbing. I could hear muffled shouting and swallowed my sobs, trying to make out what was being said.
Then the gun went off.
The sound echoed through the building, leaving me gasping for air. Abbey was always going to win. Rudi was dead.
I was doomed.
Annabel wasn't going to come because she thought Rudi was saving me. Rudi tried and failed. The only other person who knew I was here was Abbey.
There was no chance that Abbey was going to help me.
