Annabel's P.O.V
"Yes... Yes, yes, yes, yes!"
A wide smile spread across Jack's face, stretching from ear to ear.
" Well, get down here then!"He called from below.
I squealed and squeezed past my mum, taking the stairs two at a time. Before I knew it, I was flinging the front door open and Jack's arms were encircling me, holding me tightly.
" I love you so much, " He whispered against my ear.
" I love you more."
" I love you most," His lips brushed against mine softly, tenderly.
I gazed up into his bright, almond-shaped eyes, wishing that we could stay in that moment forever.
" Ahem."
I sighed, turning my head in the direction of the sound. Mum stood with Lucy and Brodie, her lips twisted into a grim expression.
" I hate to bring a downer on this romantic scene, but today is the anniversary of your father's passing. It's seven years today. We always have a celebration of his life and, although you are seemingly preoccupied with other things, it is an important day for us all," Mum told me, her arms folded across her chest.
" Okay, " I agreed, "But I think Brodie and Jack should join us this year. "
Lucy nodded eagerly, clasping the tassled edges of her patterned shawl. Mum pursed her lips disapprovingly.
" I don't know... This has always been a family occasion. Jack and Brodie never even met your dad."
" Jack is soon to be one of the family, " I flashed him a smile, "And once baby Brucy is born, Brodie will practically be one of the family. "
" Wait, " Lucy said, "Baby Brucy? "
" It's your ship name. It also means that you have to call your little fella' Bruce, " I explained.
Lucy rolled her eyes, sharing a smile with Brodie, who was hugging her to his side.
I turned back to mum, who, clearly unconvinced, nodded and sighed in defeat. " Fine. I'll get the stew on. Be back here in two hours. "
I grinned, throwing my arms around Jack's neck. He returned my smile, resting his palms on my hips.
" I am sorry, you know, " He said seriously.
" I've forgiven you. It was partly my fault anyway," I replied, planting a kiss on his nose.
" I'm the luckiest guy in the world."
" Yep. Pretty much. "

" Mum, it smells amazing! " I gushed, entering the brightly-painted kitchen.
She smiled. " Of course it does. It's my legendary lamb and vegetable stew. Bill's favourite. "
" Lucy and Brodie won't be long. She's just been having a few back pains," I told her, sinking down into a chair next to Jack.
" I know exactly what she's going through, " Mum said, "You were the worst. I had horrific back spasms from about five months onwards. "
I stuck my tongue out at her, laughing softly. Jack reached over and laced his fingers through mine.
" We should have kids, " He said earnestly.
I nodded. " We should. Once we get back to work and have the wedding, we'll have kids."
" Oh, that reminds me. I went to my old record company and did some talking. Guess who just got his record deal?"
I gasped, clasping my hand over my mouth. " No way! Oh my god, honey, I'm so proud of you! "
" And this time, there'll be no more drinking, no more clubs, no more heavy metal. I'm gonna start arranging some Rock and Indie Rock songs. Once I've got my album, we can go on tour," He explained.
" That's so exciting!" I gushed.
" Are you sure this is a good idea, Jack? " Mum asked, stirring her stew with a large wooden spoon.
He whipped his head around to face her. "Don't worry, Mrs A. I've learnt a list of valuable lessons. "
" Okay, then."
I exchanged a smile with Jack as the room was blanketed in silence.
" We're here!"
I chuckled softly as Lucy's voice rang through the house, alerting us of her arrival.
"Are you sure you're alright? " Brodie asked concernedly, as they entered the kitchen.
" Of course, " She waved him off, planting a kiss on mum's flushed cheek, before slowly lowering her herself onto a seat next to Brodie.
" Dinner is served, " Mum announced, carrying a tray of loaded plates to the table.
" Yay! " Lucy and I chorused, before bursting into a fit of giggles. She winced, her hand moving to her back.
"What's up?" Brodie asked, alarmed.
" Don't make me laugh. It's painful," She said, grimacing.
Mum poured us Fanta, dad's favourite drink, before lifting her glass. " Today we honour the life of Bill Anderson, taken from us by lung cancer. Bill was the life and soul of this family, always making the most of his life and always helping people. He was one of the most loving people that I've ever met and he was- is- the love of my life.
"This family has been through so much this past year, but I can tell you that Bill would be so proud of his daughters. Annabel- You've proved that you would sacrifice yourself for the ones that you love. The way you stood up to Abbey... well, she's got a life sentence now, hasn't she. I certainly wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for you, " I smiled meekly, colour rushing to my cheeks in a blush.
" And Lucy, " Mum continued, "You've shown me that, even if you do make mistakes, you make the mature choices. You've developed into a responsible young lady, and I think you and Brodie are going to be wonderful parents. I'm sure Bill would have loved to have met his grandson."
Tears prickled my eyes, mum's words really striking a cord. Next, she turned to Jack.
" Jack Rochester. I'm proud of you, son. I'll admit, I didn't like you much when I knew how upset Annabel was. But you've changed for the better. You've developed into a mature, caring young man and I can really see how much you love my Annabel. I can see you two building a family. Bill would be proud to call you a son-in-law."
He smiled appreciatively, a small teardrop escaping his tear duct.
" Finally, " Mum went on, "Brodie Wilson. I think we got off on the wrong foot, and I was furious with Lucy for getting pregnant. However, since, I have realised that you are going to be a great father. I can see the way you look at Lucy; You look at her with such love. You're doing good. "
My tears were flowing by this point, an endless stream of emotions running down my face. As mum sat down, I noticed her eyes were sparkling with tears. Lucy wiped her eyes with her sleeves, resting her head on Brodie's shoulder.
"Goodness, " Mum said, snatching a tissue from the box, "My stew'll be getting cold. "
We laughed, before digging into dad's favourite meal, sipping at his favourite drink.
At that moment, we knew that everything would be okay. We had each other. As for Jack and I... well, it was just written in the stars.
