Annabel's P.O.V

Tears streamed down my face, blurring my surroundings as I ran down the street, the rain pattering the ground like the light footsteps of running children.

The dark clouds in the sky cast a shadow over London,  draining it of colour and leaving it a dismal grey. I guess the weather matched my mood.

I passed a red-brick house,  the living room window illuminated with the piercing light of a naked bulb.  An elderly lady sat in front of the window,  her eyes following me curiously as I jogged past her, sobbing uncontrollably.  I didn't know where I was headed;  I didn't care.  Jack had betrayed me.  Again.

It broke my heart.

I slowed to a stop when I reached the end of the road,  my heart pounding  as I gasped for breath.  I dragged my fingers through my hair,  feeling the cold of the rain water that had drenched it.

For the fifth time,  I felt the vibration of my phone against my ribs,  reminding me endlessly of Jack.

Jack.  Jack. Jack.  Why was it always Jack?

Sighing in defeat,  I pulled out my mobile,  the screen flashing tirelessly.

3 Missed Calls- Lucy
2 Missed Calls- Jack ♥

My fingers trembling,  I dialled Lucy's number.  It rang twice,  before she picked up.

" Annabel? Is that you? "

" Yes. "

" Oh god.  Thank god.  Annabel- Don't do that again.  We were so worried about you!  Where are you?  I'll come pick you up. "

"Is Jack there? "

" Yeah- d'you wanna speak to him? He's right h-"

" No. I'm not coming home if he's going to be there. "

" Oh, Annabel.  Don't be like that. It was really nothing."

" You would say that. I'm going to mum's. "

And with that, I hung up.

" Mum? You home? "

I slipped through the front door,  shoving my key back into my pocket.

" Annabel?"

Mum's thin frame appeared in the kitchen doorway, her blonde hair streaked with silver.  Her eyebrows were knitted together,  her eyes searching mine concernedly.

I hurried over to her, melting into her embrace.  She ran a hand over my damp head, planting a kiss on the area she touched.

" What's happened now, my baby girl? " She asked,  her words muffled by the cotton material of her jumper that was pressed against my ear.

" It's Jack," I told her, pulling away reluctantly,  " He kissed Lucy."

Mum's cheeks flushed an angry carmine-red as she said through gritted teeth,  "Did he now? "

" I-" I faltered as music filled my ears.

I hurried over to the open window,  gasping as I saw Jack sitting on the freshly-mown lawn,  his acoustic guitar positioned on his lap and his lips pressed to his microphone.

" What would I do without your smart mouth?

Drawing me in, and you kicking me out.

You've got my head spinning, no kidding,

I can't pin you down.

What's going on in that beautiful mind?

I'm on your magical mystery ride.

And I'm so dizzy, don't know what hit me, but I'll be alright.

"My head's under water,

But I'm breathing fine.

You're crazy and I'm out of my mind.

"'Cause all of me,

Loves all of you.

Love your curves and all your edges,

All your perfect imperfections.

Give your all to me

I'll give my all to you.

You're my end and my beginning,

Even when I lose I'm winning.

'Cause I give you all of me

And you give me all of you, ohoh.

"How many times do I have to tell you?

Even when you're crying you're beautiful too.

The world is beating you down,

I'm around through every mood.

You're my downfall, you're my muse,

My worst distraction, my rhythm and blues.

I can't stop singing, it's ringing, in my head for you.

"My head's under water,

But I'm breathing fine.

You're crazy and I'm out of my mind.

"'Cause all of me,

Loves all of you.

Love your curves and all your edges,

All your perfect imperfections.

Give your all to me

I'll give my all to you.

You're my end and my beginning,

Even when I lose I'm winning.

'Cause I give you all of me

And you give me all of you, ohoh.

"Give me all of you,

Cards on the table, we're both showing hearts.

Risking it all, though it's hard.

"'Cause all of me,

Loves all of you.

Love your curves and all your edges,

All your perfect imperfections.

Give your all to me

I'll give my all to you.

You're my end and my beginning,

Even when I lose I'm winning.

'Cause I give you all of me

And you give me all of you, ohoh."

He finished, never tearing his eyes from mine. He smiled genuinely.

" I love you, Annabel.  I know sometimes I have a funny way of showing it, but I'm just not very good at talking about or showing my feelings. But I can sing them.  And I love you, Annabel Anderson,  more than I've ever loved anyone in my life.  So.  How about this for showing my true feelings?" Jack paused,  lowering himself onto one knee.  " The last time I asked you to marry me,  everything went wrong.  This time's gonna be different. Annabel Anderson,  will you marry me?"
