The side of my head was leaned against the cool window of the car. Shitty classical music was playing in the car which my mom hoped would 'Relax' me. It's not that the sound of Violins and Violas and Cellos and Basses were actually bad, it just wasn't to my liking.
My mom thought that I loved Orchestra and that I loved playing the Violin because I had played it since sixth grade, but the truth was,
I hated it.
I hated it so fucking much.
But it was the one of two things I was actually good at and I didn't want to stop. The other thing I was good at was writing.
Preferably poetry. Sort of.
This was the fourth time we have moved in this one year. Four times. I swear, this could have been a record.
I was moved because I was bullied a lot and it kind of freaked my mom out. I tried to tell her it was fine, that those bitches didn't get to me, but she wanted the 'Best' for me.
I was also moved because I was a discipline problem. Because I was bullied, I wasn't afraid of speaking my mind and resort to fighting if I had to.
Needless to say, I did. A lot.
I'm sure the teachers probably had enough of my shit and wanted me gone. I couldn't blame them. I could understand why they didn't want me in their class. It was pretty reasonable.
"We're almost there, Iris."
"Yay," I mutter sarcastically. "Can you turn this shit off?"
I felt her eyes look at me for a second before glancing back to the road. She turned it down, but it wasn't off. I needed it off.
"Iris," she started quietly. I groaned because I knew where this conversation was going. "I know this is hard for you-"
"So hard."
"And that you have a tough time making friends, but please just try to be good and try to make friends. Make this time different."
I scoffed. "I can't make friends with someone who doesn't like me. Which was pretty much the whole entire fucking school."
"Iris.."
I groaned. "Fine. I'll try to make this better. I have a long way to go though," I stated glancing at her. "Don't get your hopes up."
Thirty more minutes passed and we were finally at our destination. The sun outside was bright, a little too bright if you know what I mean.
I opened the car door and got out. We were parked at the side of the street. The moving van was parked on our new driveway.
"Do you have the keys mom?" I yelled to her. She was over by our car looking for something. I just hoped no one came over and slapped her butt since it was sticking out. You never know where the perverts are. You got to keep your eyes peeled.
"Yeah." She closed the car door and tossed them to me and I caught them with one hand. I gave her a not-too-bad face and unlocked the door.
When I walked in, I could hear the house echo my footsteps; along with my mom's.
"This is it, Iris. Our new home," she announced with a small sigh of relief. Her voice bounced off the white-as-snow walls.
"Yeah, okay. But right now I'm freezing my tits off so if you could do something about it that would be great."
