13. - tattoo

"hey, lamont! what can i do for you today?" romeo greeted me with a huge smile, and an energetic body today.

"um, i'm here to take off my tattoo." i looked into his dark brown eyes. his eyes went wide.

"woah, you mean like burn it?" he asked me, making sure.

"yeah." after a long silence, he finally replied.

"okay, sit down. and i recommend to not look while i burn it because it'll hurt even more." romeo added.

"okay."

"which one?" he asked, scanning for my tattoos.

"this one." i faced my wrist towards him, pointing at it. his eyes went wide.

"aviana, those are your mom's initials. you can't get that off."

"but i want to."

"aviana, what ever she did to make you want to do this, i promise, will be something you laugh at in the future. please don't make me do this." his eyes glossed.

"romeo, seriously i want to. she told me that the man i love isn't good enough."

"who?"

"i can't tell you. he's one of your best friends."

"who?" he spoke a little louder.

"dammit, it's e-eth-" i quickly wiped a tear, but it was no use.

"ethan?" romeo guessed, and i nodded. he took a deep breath, and then wrapped his comforting arms around my head, and i wrapped mine around his torso.

a quiet sob left my mouth, as i licked my dry, chapped lips.

"i'm sorry. i'm just in pain, right now."

"you're suffering. i know how it feels." he let go of the hug.

"is that what love is? to be depressing and heartbreaking?"

"is it supposed to be happy and joyful?" he narrowed his eyebrows at me, and i shook my head.

"what the fuck is love without pain or suffer?" i asked my self, but of course, romeo heard.

"fake love."

"so you're saying this is true love? what ethan and i have between us?"

"duh, you guys are broken. over his mistake. but," he goes on," people aren't meant to be together forever."

his words were like needles poking into my heart; one by one.

"o-okay."

"now," he sits up in his rolling chair, "you still want to burn that tattoo?"

"no. b-but i want a new one."

"oh yeah? where? and what will it be, lamont?" his lips curved into a smirk, and i laughed.
