It's wonderful. I'm in a forest, with beautiful purple flowers that are just above my ankle. I smile and I'm flooded with warmth.
The trees are tall and partially block the sun. A feeling is running through my veins. Not quite adrenaline, it's more than that.
It's power. I let it out as I exhale and the plants, the flowers and trees, begin to grow. Higher, higher, and more beautiful. Everything is suddenly magnified and alluring. It catches my breath, and I feel pure, untainted happiness.
Happiness that I could never really feel when filling in for Mom when it comes to Elena.
A hand appears on my shoulder and I'm actually tempted to make a plant whip whoever it is away. I shake my head, mostly getting rid of the feeling. Unfortunately, with the agitation and aggression goes my feeling of power.
I sigh as I realize that it must be Gabe. I completely forgot about him there for a second. I look and see that I was right, it was Gabe.
Gabe looks sort of frightened in a strange way, which makes me curious.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" I ask, hoping that I didn't do anything freaky.
"Nothing. It's just, um, maybe could you make the plants go back to their normal size?" Gabe sounds hesitant and I become impatient.
Where's the normally cocky guy I know?
"Out with it. Why you acting so freaked?" I demand.
Gabe clears his throat before answering,
"I'm not freaked, it's just that your eyes were an unnatural green and it was sorta scary to watch you while the plants just grew irregularly big." Gabe's confession startled me for a second.
My eyes went green? I suppose that may be normal, but I'm not really sure.
I force a grin and look around me. The trees are impossibly tall, easily 300 feet in the air. The flowers are waist height and I smile genuinely as I see the beauty I created.
"Well, I think that the flowers and trees look way better than they did before." I state, knowing that Gabe disagrees.
Gabe shrugs and quickly looks around.
"I guess, but could you maybe shrink them back to normal size? My parents would definitely notice the trees that touch the clouds." Gabe asks and I feel a little sad knowing that I'll have to do it.
"Okay, hold on a sec." I close my eyes and after a minute or so I open them, knowing I'll see normally sized trees.
"What about the flowers?" Gabe may have had a point about the trees, but there's no reason to shrink the flowers.
I shake my head and eye the flowers. Each petal softly tilted and basking in sunlight. Yep, no way I'm shrinking them.
"Nah I like the flowers like this." I smirk, trying to lighten the mood a little.
"Fine. Now you wanna do something?" Gabe asks playfully and I see that he's back to his normal self.
"Hmm, depends on what game." I would love to play a game, but for now I'll act like I need persuasion.
