When I saw how badly Serena was hurt it was like someone had stuck a knife in me and twisted it. Since she is my mate and Gabe's when she was being hurt we both felt it to a degree.
"I am going to kill that bitch!" Gabe roared bringing me back to the present.
I agree. That bitch needs to feel ten times the pain she caused our mate.
I silenced my wolf and looked at Gabe.
"Look, we can't just attack her based on an accusation. For all we know Iris is completely innocent." I say as calmly as I can. Truthfully, I know that Iris would do that to Serena without hesitation but we can't be rash about this. We have to think.
"I can't believe you're protecting her! Serena is our fucking mate not Iris." He said Iris the same way one would spit a filthy word.
"I'm not protecting her, I'm trying to make sure we don't punish an innocent and cause discord."
"You know it was her! So why aren't you acting like you care?" Gabe shouts at me and his face is red in fury.
"Because Serena doesn't care about us. She'll probably reject us once she's better." I say coldly and I feel my wolf attack my mind.
Don't you dare say that about our mate!
Gabe snaps and soon my back connects with the marble floor and he's snarling at me.
"Never speak about Serena like that!" He shouts and spit flies onto my face. Shoving him off me I hear a whimper from the corner of the room and see Serena's little sister.
"Don't be afraid." I say quietly as I stand up and beckon her to me. She slowly comes next to me, fear still easily identified on her face.
"What are you doing up?" I ask playfully and poke her in the side. She gives a small smile and says,
"I don't know where to go. I can't sleep with Sewena because she's hurt." At the mention of Serena I stiffen but still have the small smile on my face.
"Well let's get you to bed, yeah?" She nods and a yawn comes out as I pick her up.
"Can I sing before I sleep? Sewena normally sings to me, but she's not here." I nod my head and she sings a song that I don't know. Her voice is beautiful and tears come to my eyes and my breath is short. When I get to the room where she can sleep I don't want her to stop.
Pushing my greediness aside I open the door and place her on the bed. She's stopped singing and is now snoring softly. I smile and brush the hair from her forehead. She looks so peaceful and innocent.
"Goodnight." I whisper and leave the door open a jar.
I decide to go back to my room to catch some sleep myself when I pass the room Serena is in. I give in to the urge to open the door and when I see the doctor isn't around I step into the room.
Serena is sleeping like her sister but she's not snoring. I stand by her bed side and look down at her. Her face is framed by her blonde hair and there are several bruises that still need to be healed.
Leaning down I gently kiss her forehead and before I leave the room I say quietly,
"Gabe might be right." Then I close the door softly and head to my own bed for some sleep.
It feels like I've just closed my eyes when someone wakes me up.
"Your Highness. Ahem, your highness!" Opening my eyes I glare at my royal advisor, Surge.
"What is it, Surge?" I ask sleepily as I tried to focus.
"It's your brother, he's causing a scene at school with Ms. Iris." I wake up immediately and Surge fills me in.
"Dammit." I curse.
"What would you like to do, sir?" Surge asks politely and I run my hand through my hair.
"Okay, go get Elena, Serena's little sister, and make sure she's taken care of. Make sure Serena is tended to by the doctor. Now give me five minutes and then take me to school."
I hastily brush my teeth and throw on some jeans. Since there's no time to waste I just leave shirtless and run down the hall at full speed.
"Surge, run every red light, we need to do damage control now." Surge is gaping at my abdomen and I clap my hands so he'll get back on track.
"Alright, car is out front, sir. And would you not like to put on a shirt?" His eyes travel back down to my abdomen and I scratch my neck awkwardly.
"There's a shirt in the backseat from like two weeks ago." For once, Gabe's sloppiness is paying off.
With a nod Surge opens the door and per my command we ran every red light until we came in front of the school.
A crowd had gathered around and in the middle of it is Gabe, about to attack Iris.
