(Your POV)
Shock coursed throughout your body. It seemed to freeze and slow everything; time, your blood, your brain. The expression on your face must've unsettled Paula, so she came over to hug you. A mixture of different emotions circled around in your mind. You shook your head and breathed.
"Okay, just go him him please. I need some time to think." You nodded in a dismissive manner and Paula walked away.
You were terrified. What did Tori do to my son while I was out? Did she hurt him? Is he hurt? What happened?
Anything could've happened to him, Y/N. Anything and everything can and will happen.
Shut up! You spat in to the people inside of your head.
That's rude.
Be quiet ...
You know we're right.
He may be dead.
SHUT UP! Shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up! You're not real! None of you are real!
You plugged your ears as if to block out all the noise. The sounds disappeared, and the door to reveal Tori and Thorn.
It seemed crazy to speak with people in your head. You laughed at your delusion and looked at Thorn, who came up to you and was standing next to your bed.
You noticed that his cat-ear like hair was a little longer. His silver eyes were wide and filled with joy that you were awake. He leapt onto your lap, startling you, and faced you.
"Hey ma! I've missed you! Why were you asleep for so long? How come mom has been really sad and excited?" He bombarded you with questions and statements, reminding you that he was still the same Thorn as before. But when he said 'mom', you were confused. Who was he talking about? He didn't call anyone mom that you knew of.
You looked at Tori, who was staring at the floor with an embarrassed expression on her face. Her cheeks were a bit pink. Looking back at Thorn, you stifled a laugh.
"Who is 'mom'?" You asked, causing the light pink on Tori's face to turn into beet red. You were pretty sure you knew who Thorn's mom was.
"Her!" Thorn pointed at Tori. The Red leader was so flustered, she was hiding her face. She probably didn't expect your reaction.
(Tori's POV)
I was confused; why wasn't she laughing at me? Normally, people would laugh and call me weak. But she wasn't normal."I'm glad you have more than one parent." She said, surprising me. I thought she would get mad.
Y/N seemed slightly embarrassed. A bit of blush was spreading across her cheeks. Thorn poked her nose, causing her to fall backwards dramatically and close her 'eyes' as if she was dead. Thorn giggled at her childish antics. She smiled softly.
I smiled to myself. The two were so relaxed; as if no one was being hurt, no one was dying. I envied their tranquility.
(Word of the day: Tranquil
Tran • quil
Free from commotion or tumult; peaceful; quiet; calm)"Tori!" Y/N shouted my name, pulling me out of my thoughts. I glanced over to her.
"Yes?" I inquired.
"Can we practice walking again?" She asked, placing Thorn in a chair next to the bed.
"Sure."
-Time Skip of Successful Walking-
(Henry's POV)
"Green leader, we have a problem in one of the tents." A staticky voice emerged from Green leader's pager. She stifled a laugh."Let 'em fight. They'll learn." She turned the device off and stared forward, a bored expression on her face.
She stood up and kissed my forehead. "Stay here and do this paperwork while I go destroy a city. Bye bye!" She exited the tent.
Green leader has taken a liking to me and made me second in command. She says her real name is Shannon.
I continued her paperwork, listening to the marching of soldiers leaving the camp.
(Tori's POV)
Y/N has been able to walk really well with the prosthetic. I was surprised. She was even able to carry Thorn on her back, hold him on the side, and on her shoulders. She was struggling a lot when we tried the first time. She almost died when we first tried. But now it seemed as if she always had the leg. She could walk flawlessly.
I wonder if we can try running if she's comfortable with it. I paced around my room, thinking of places we could try to run.
The battle training field? No, she might have another bad memory flashback. The courtyard? It'll be too busy there.
"How about the flower field nearby?" Joan appeared in my room.
"Joan! You know I don't like it when you read my thoughts! I'd like to keep some of those to myself!" I scolded the ghost, who simply laughed. "Good idea though. How did you know about that place, though?"
"I have my ways." Joan winked. I groaned and rolled my eye. "Hey, at least you have an idea now."
"Oh shut up." I retorted.
"Guess what? I know how you feel about Y/N~. Maybe I can help you think of a place to take her." Joan suggested, making me blush. "I've seen her thoughts too, and you may be surprised. I was startled about the way she thinks of you. And trust me, it's positive thinking!"
"Jooooooooan!" I became flustered. I hid my face in my arms to conceal the blush.
"You're flustered because you know I'm right!" She laughed. I stuck my tongue out at her. "So mature, for the Red leader."
"Shut up," I attempted to sound authoritative, but I was doubled over laughing. I recalled my ma's statement. 'Laughter makes everyone feel better'.
I guess you were right, ma.
You were right.
