(Tori's POV)
I set Y/N down, slightly aggressively. She looked slightly sad and sorry, but I couldn't tell because she was looking downward."Go ... explore or something. I don't care right now." I sighed heavily, and I thought I saw a water droplet fall to the tile floor.
Y/N walked away, probably down a hallway of some sort. I decided to work in my office, so I wouldn't run into Y/N and make her more upset than she already was.
(Your POV)
It felt like a hole was inside your heart, capturing you with chains of darkness. You walked throughout the mostly empty halls. If there was a person, they would come in pairs or trios and were usually chatting, but the room seemed to dim when you entered, making the hall dark and gloomy.
You stared at the tiled floor as you paced along the abandoned corridors. The soldiers on the sides of the halls had pitiful and sympathetic expressions as you passed them. You ignored their constant glances and whispers.
"Um ... miss Thompson?" A somewhat familiar voice asked your name from behind you. A tear rolled down your cheek as you whipped around to see ...
Nobody.
"I must be going crazy ... " You mumbled, sadness in your tone.
You shook your head and kept walking. Whispers and murmurs echoed in your mind. You found a secluded area and slumped up against the wall.
"Little do you know, I'm breaking while you fall asleep,
Little do you know, I'm still haunted by the memories,
Little do you know, I'm tryin' pick myself up piece by piece,
Little do you know, I
Need a little more time."(Tori's POV)
"Little do you know, I know you're hurting while I'm sound asleep,
Little do you know, all my mistakes are slowly drowning me.
Little do you know, I'm tryin' to make it better piece by piece.
Little do you know, I
I love till the sun dies."The song lyrics echoed in my head. That was a song I used to listen to when I was in high school, and it was coming back to me now, while I was attempting to finish some work.
I heard my door open gently, and when I looked up I saw my ma. She looked angry, which was not a good thing.
"Hi ma, what do you n-" I started, but was cut off, not to my surprise.
"What did you do?" She barked.
"Um-" I was cut off once again.
"I know what you did, just why? I was looking at camera footage and saw Y/N sitting in a corner." She grumbled.
"I told her to look around! It's not my fault she decided to sit in a corner!" I snarled.
The door opened with 'I'm angry but I don't want to interrupt whatever's going on' feel. I looked up to see Y/N standing there with her head downcast.
"I've decided that I'll be your secretary. I want to do something productive." She whispered. The room's atmosphere was now gloomy, like the feeling on a rainy day. The silence occupying the room was unsettling. No one had anything to say.
"Um- okay? I'll be back in a minute." I stood up to go get a clipboard with a couple papers on it. "Make her feel better." I whispered to ma.
(Your POV)
Patricia, who was also in the room, approached you and placed her pale hand on your back in a comforting manner. You flinched. Patricia's expression darkened. She stepped away from and looked at the floor.
Tori came back into the room with a clipboard and a pen. She handed them to you and gestures to a seat that leaned against the wall with a window next to it.
You sat down and stared out the window for hours while Tori did boring paperwork.
(Tori's POV, 2 Weeks Later)
Y/N has been extremely quiet for the past two weeks. I've tried talking to her the only words I've gotten out of her are 'yes', 'no' or she completely zones out.Paula and Patricia have attempted conversation with her but she either ignores them or tells them that she doesn't want to talk.
Her silence is disturbing. When we lived with each other, she wouldn't stop talking. I've heard her mutter things that sound odd, like 'you're still loved by everyone at home'. It's weird. Ell and Matilda always enjoyed her presence, and I knew for a fact Tamara loved her. Well, people and things change, and sometimes you can't control that.
(Your POV)
The halls were dark and quiet, which was no surprise because it was nighttime. You wandered the corridors in search of the child you saved two weeks ago, hoping that they were still here. You were pressing all the oddly shaped bricks in hopes that you would find a secret passageway. Even though you were an adult, you still hadn't outgrown your strange beliefs.
Just as you were about to give up and go back to the room you were assigned, when a brick felt lighter than the others. You pressed down curiously, and to your surprise, it went back! Is it real? Or am I just delusional?
You heard a shifting and when you glanced to your right, there was an opening. You looked around before entering the cavern.
"What is this place?" You muttered to yourself. It was very dark, considering the time, but a few lanterns lit the way.
You walked down the hall, your shoes making small tapping noises against the cold white tile.
A small bout of childlike laughter echoed throughout the corridor, sending a chill down your spine. You kept walking, searching for - something.
You saw a door up ahead and sighed with relief. You opened it and were greeted with a lantern-less room. There were a few glowing liquids in beakers on a counter. Other than that, you couldn't see.
You shivered as you grabbed a lantern and entered the room. It was pitch black, and the only thing that gave you some kind of light was the torch you held in your hand.
As you surveyed the room, you kept to the sides, just to be safe. Then, you felt a child's hand on your arm. You jumped back, letting out a small scream.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." A familiar voice whispered quietly.
You looked down. It was the kid!
