16: God Help Wakanda

I wake up in an extremely comfortable bed and reach over to feel empty space.

To no surprise Erik isn't laying beside me. Of course he isn't.

As I sit up in the bed a bald woman comes in, but she isn't the general. "I am Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje. I will be with you today. The King wishes for me to wake you and get you to eat," Of course Erik would want control over everything I do today.

"Nice to meet you Ayo," I say as I get up from the bed. "You wouldn't happen to know where the bathroom is, would you?"

Throughout the day I find myself wondering where Erik could be. I haven't seen him at all.

Currently I am sitting on a random chair watching some Wakandan show with Ayo, at least they have TV here right. "Hey Ayo," I say getting her attention. "Do you know where Erik is?" Without looking up from the TV Ayo says "The King is having a meeting with the elders,"

Okay she's really into this show. I grumble to myself as I realize that I won't see Erik for the rest of the day. And realize that I'm stuck sitting here watching TV while he's off doing God knows what.

I want to be out there.

And now that the harsh truth that Erik is King has set in I want to help. I'm not gonna be a queen that just sits on her ass. I know that I haven't been on Erik's side this whole time but now it seems like his side is the ONLY side. He's in charge now and I have to back him up. And when I do things I don't do them half-assed. I want to be there right with him.

For the rest of the day it's just me and Ayo and I start to get ready for bed. "Ayo, do you think Erik will be back tonight?" I ask and she just shrugs her shoulders, "I have no idea my Queen," The all too familiar fear sets in.

Could Erik have left me?

Would he really do that to me though, probably. I take a relaxed breath as I see a familiar face walk into the room and my mood changes from scared to grumpy.

He left me alone all day without even checking up on me. For all he knows I could've had the baby early.

At least he came back though.

Ayo leaves the room and Erik joins me in the bed asking "What's wrong Princess?" I can tell by his mood that he had a good day. Without noticing it I begin to pout and ask "Where were you today?" Erik gets from out of the bed and starts to undress saying "No where,"

I hum to myself and say "I thought we weren't keeping secrets, remember? You said no secrets," Erik laughs at me and says "That goes for you Princess. I have to know about your whereabouts because you have a part of me in you, it's not the same," I let out an exaggerated sigh and say "Fine. So is this what the next 18 years of my life going to consist of? Someone babysitting me while you go out and make changes. I'm here bored out of my mind,"

Erik laughs at me and begins to say something but I cut him off, "Listen to me," I say starting to whine. Ew I'm really whining.

"Just listen. You're out there making a difference in the world and I'm stuck here," Erik's tone changes and I can tell he's getting annoyed, "You're pregnant," He says to me but I don't take that as an excuse. "Well it's not like I'm about to pop, I still have a few more months. Erik let me help, I want to help. I don't want to be that queen who just sits on her ass and lets you do all of the work. Let me help,"
