I breathe out. I smiled to myself and think about how I haven't had to see Rush days for the last two days. I have been living in my own bliss.

I'm driving Wes's car, the music is blaring, and for the first time in days I feel relaxed. I pull into the baseball field parking lot and I wait for  Wes. I stay in the spot and see a couple of the baseball players coming out. Then, I make eye contact with Wes. I smile to myself, and reach for my seat belt ready to hug my man.  Then I see him. To the right of Wes is Rush.  What the fuck is he doing here I think to myself.
I look at it Wes and shake my head no. I think he gets it and he stays. He waits to talk to all the baseball players. Then when he was done, Rush walked over to him. I roll down the window just a Tad so I can try to hear the  conversation.

"Where's Nan?" Rush asks. Shit he just cut to the chase ok.

Wes just grins at him. "Like I would sell out my girl like that." I smile to myself and get a little turned on and think "Hell ya I am."

"Cut the shit. I need to talk to my sister-."

"Or you can hear the same shit from me. Stay away from her." Wes's sly grin is quickly erased from his face. He looks pissed. Like really pissed. Oh no.

Rush looks like he's going to hit him and I can feel my hand go to the car door handle.

Then Rush breathes. "Look...I know you're trying to protect Nan.-"

"I'm not trying, I am. As long as Nan says she doesn't want to see you, you're not seeing Nan."

"I'm trying to be nice here, you're not making it easy. Just tell me where she is." Rush steps closer to Wes and causes my breathing to pick up. If Wes is caught in a fight he can get kicked off the baseball team.

"Put your hands on me and you'll be arrested in .2  seconds." He nods his head to the security guard standing outside the stadium. "Also, why do you care now you haven't talked to her for years. You gave up on her. It's to late."

Wes probably thinks he's helping but that just hurt my feelings. I didn't blame Rush. I never did. I blame myself for letting myself get as far as I did.

"You don't know anything. Look, I'm happy Nan has you, but you don't understand..."

"No. You don't understand. Nan told me everything. More than you know probably. I'm not letting you see her, BECAUSE I love her. Just this week alone, I've seen the most confident, intelligent, bright girl I know just disappear. She's become this nervous wreck. The first thing she told me when I arrived was that it's ok if I leave. That's not ok. She's not getting to that point again. I don't care if you say you miss her, or you want to be apart of the new and improved Nan. You weren't there for her at her lowest and you don't deserve her now." Wes was in Rush's face at this point. Dear God, please don't get punched Wes. Please don't.

"You. Weren't. There. You have this sweet Nan, but Nan bullied my wife. She was rude and selfish-"

"And your sister. You were her ONLY family. And you picked your wife over her... Nan attempted suicide three times. Three. If she was successful I wouldn't have her. She felt alone. Abandoned. Why would I let you anywhere NEAR HER. If you come here again, I will have you arrested. You might have a big name in Alabama but, this is my town. Goodbye."

Wes turns around and walks to the stadium entrance and goes back in. I look back at Wes and he is MAD. He looks like he wants to punch a wall. He picks up his phone and calls someone.

"Hey babe, I'm coming back she wasn't here...Ya, I know... can you not sound so happy? Look Blaire if you say I told you so I'm gonna go crazy babe." His last words were cut off when walked the corner of the stadium.
