Karlie's POV
I roll over in bed to find it empty, Taylor and Maisie both absent from the room. I rub my sleepy eyes as I sit up, glancing at the time as I do and it's only 7am. I get out of the bed and wander down the hall, everyone else is still asleep and everything seems quiet. I walk downstairs and glance into every room before finding Taylor in the armchair in the living-room. "What're you doing down here?" I speak softly after realising she's feeding Maisie. I perch on the arm of the chair and she looks up to me, answering in practically a whisper. "I didn't want to wake you, she was getting restless so I came down here."
I nod and stand up, holding my hand out to help her up. She stands and I grab the blanket from the back of the chair before sitting down and telling Taylor to sit on my lap. She curves into my body, dangling her legs over the side as I cover us both and she lies a sleeping Maisie in her lap. My arms wrap around her under the blanket and I rest my hand on her baby bump, "our appointment is at ten." I speak softly and she nods into the crook on my neck as we both stare down at our sleeping baby. "I'm scared, Karlie." She sighs, her eyes closing as she does and I rub soft circles on her thigh. "I know, I am too. But we'll handle whatever gets thrown at us, I promise."
I watch her as she opens her eyes again to watch Maisie. We're both terrified of what we could hear today and I think we're expecting the worst which could be good or bad because anything less than worst case scenario we can handle but there's also the possibility that maybe there's something worse than what we can imagine.
"I love you." She whispers into the early morning air and I inhale deeply as I say "I love you too."

Taylor's POV"Have you two been there all night?" I'm startled awake by the sound of Kurt's voice and Karlie jumps awake under me. "What time is it?" She asks her dad who looks at his watch, "almost eight thirty." He tells us and I blink rapidly as the sun irritates my eyes. "Where's Maisie?" I ask, realising my daughter has mysteriously disappeared, "the twins have her, they said you looked peaceful." He laughs and I get off of Karlie, stretching the best I can. "We need to get ready," the woman looks at me as her dad walks away again and I nod.
We go back upstairs, finding now that the whole house is practically awake. "Auntie Tay, auntie Karlie, it's my birthday!" Mia jumps around excitedly as she spots us at the top of the stairs and we both smile at the little girl. Karlie lifts her up and balances her on her hip before kissing her cheek and I do the same, "Happy Birthday Mia." I laugh softly before Karlie puts her back on the ground. "Mia, come on, you can see Taylor and Karlie later." Kristine walks out of the bedroom and holds her hand out for her daughter to follow her downstairs, smiling at us softly, she knows what we're doing today.
"Do you want to shower first?" Karlie asks and I smirk as I wrap my arms around her neck, "we could shower together." That gains a laugh from her but she doesn't object. "I'll meet you in the there, I need to check on Mais." I whisper in her ear before pulling away from her and she smirks as she shakes her head before going into the bathroom. I laugh to myself as I walk towards the twins bedroom, knocking before walking inside. Kariann is sitting in bed with Maisie lying beside her and she smiles as I pop my head round the door. "Just wanted to make sure she's okay, will you be okay whilst I take a shower?"
She nods as she looks down at Maisie, "if I need anything I'll find Karlie." She shrugs and I shake my head, "no you won't, she's otherwise occupied." I laugh and she grimaces, "enough said, I'll figure it out." I laugh as she shakes her head, trying to get the image out of her mind as I leave the room.
