Flash pulled me down the corridor and outside into the courtyard, where we were alone. "I said sorry, please can I just go to class." I pleaded, pulling away from his grip. "Sure, but first you should know something." He replied. "Whatever you say nobhead," I rolled my eyes, turning away. "I'd be careful, Stark." It was in that moment that I froze, I turned around and launched myself at him. "How do you know? Who told you!" I shouted, the only thought in my head was the Living Laser. "I saw you, this morning, your suit on the field." He wheezed out. I let him go. "And, if you want it to stay a secret you will stop this, start being a real girlfriend." I took a deep breath. Identity, was the most important thing to superhero families, and yet the most dangerous. If the whole school knew then I would be forced to move, Tony would see the school as a threat. Unsafe for everyone around if I was to attend. "Okay, I'm sorry babe." I took Flash's hand willingly, and let him walk me to class. We kissed goodbye and I walked inside.
Lunch was no different to the morning, I sat with Flash and became the best girlfriend I could be. Grabbing various things from the vending machines when he needed, knives or forks, drinks, anything to keep him from spilling my secret. As I did all this, Peter watched, disapprovingly, the only thing holding him back was Ned who had a bruised cheek. I'm guessing that was my absence.
"Flash, babe." I spoke up, wanting to know. "Yes baby?" He smiled at me, a wicked smile, a victorious smile. "Did you hurt Ned? Whilst I was ill?" I asked. His smile faded, "he got in my way, but that doesn't concern you." He replied. "But you promised." I acted all sweet but he just shook his head. "It doesn't concern you, does it?" He repeated, the group of people at our table now slowly silencing. "No, of course not. Just wondering why there was a bruise from such...powerful arms." I acted all interested, doing what he loved most, holding his arms in front of the cheerleaders.
They loathed me for being his girlfriend, for being the only one he wanted, not them. And he loved the jealously, the attention he got from ogling girls watching us. Then the bell rang out, "how about I drive you home tonight?" He whispered as we walked. "We both know that's not happening." I snapped before entering class, leaving him no time to object.
"Class, I'm afraid I must bring to your attention Miss. Stirly has fallen into a coma after a car accident, so until she recovers, you will have a new teacher. Mr. Livington." The headmaster announced. I looked up at the board, then he spoke... "Hello class, I'm looking very forwards to teaching you all. Especially Miss Krats and Mr Parker, great things have been heard on the two of you." That voice was too familiar to me. That voice was the Living Laser. However, this man wasn't the guy who killed Sally, this guy looked nothing like him, just sounded the same. "For our first project together you will have to create a small light beam, or a laser as you may know it. The colour, or colours are your choice," the class started to get excited over the new project. "But. I will be giving you partners, starting with the star students, Peter and Riley!" I gulped, Flash would not be happy.
Peter turned around and looked at me, our eyes met and all I could see was a reflection of myself, sadness, anger, regret. "Get into your pairs, plan, plan it to perfection!" I snapped out of my trance when Livington spoke up and Peter made his way to my desk.
"So, how do you wanna do this Parker?" I asked, trying to stay off the topic of Flash. "We aren't doing this. You aren't doing this." I glared, this was school, we had to do it. "Pete! We have no choice." I snapped but was shushed. "Not the project. We're not acting like you aren't being forced into something by Flash. You know something I don't about him, what did he do to you? I swear if he touched you..."
"Problem Mr Parker?" Livington stood and walked up the stairs to us. "No, we just can't decide what colour to make the laser." He hurriedly responded.
"Well, I recommend a combination of white, blue and gold." His eyes gleamed as he looked at me. "Good idea, but I think red, blue and black go better." I replied thinking about Spiderman, the one who had helped with the prick standing before me. "Ah yes, I suppose they would. Well, I suppose I'll leave you to it." He walked away and Peter instantly turned back to me, his voice now more hushed. "Well?" He asked.
