Jade's POV

I woke up the next morning with a tightness in my neck and a weight across my legs. I slowly opened my eyes and squinted to get used to the light that was streaming through the half open curtains. Leigh Anne was sprawled out over my legs and I'd been resting my head on Jesy's shoulder, we must have fallen asleep on the sofa. Carefully, I stretched my neck out to try and ease some of the tightness and it worked a little bit. My stomach growled lowly and I realised I hadn't eaten properly since yesterday breakfast. We'd ordered pizza last night but I hadn't been in the mood to eat it, a decision I was seriously regretting right now.

I carefully squeezed my way out from between the two girls. Leigh Anne mumbled something incoherent and wriggled around for a moment and I held my breath to see if she would wake up. I breathed a small sigh of relief when she simply rolled over and cuddled into Jesy, I couldn't face either of them now - I needed food and something to drink before I was bombarded with their questions. A bit of time to think would be good as well.

Slowly, I made my way towards the kitchen whilst massaging my neck and shoulder. The floor of the kitchen was cold underneath my feet but I was still half asleep and hungry enough that it didn't bother me. I made a beeline to the fridge and pulled it open.

"Aww fuck!" I had completely forgotten about my hand in my hunger fuelled, half asleep daze and now it was painfully reminding me of it's existence and how I shouldn't be grabbing things with it. I'm sure if someone were to walk in now I'd look ridiculous: pulling faces, silently mouthing unintelligible words whilst carefully cradling my bruised and swollen hand. Once the angry throbbing faded to a dull ache that I could ignore I used my good hand to help myself to a yogurt and a glass of orange juice.

20 minutes later and Leigh Anne made her way through the kitchen door wearily rubbing her eyes. She found me sat at the table with an empty yogurt pot and a half empty glass of juice in front of me. I was sat staring at the wall in my own world.

"Morning Jadey. You feeling any better?" Leigh asked and I snapped out of my trance.

"What?" I was confused. Whilst I'd heard Leigh talk I hadn't registered what she'd said.

"How you feeling Jade? You feel better or not?"

"My hand feels like it's been ran over." That was not what Leigh was asking and I knew it.

"That's not what I meant but I'll let you off cos when Jesy wakes up you'll be interrogated, it'll be like the Spanish Inquisition."

"I know and I'm not looking forward to it at all." I sighed and rested my forehead on the table.

"I know Jade but you have to tell us eventually, we only want to help and we can't do that if we don't know what happened."

"I will tell you, I just needed some time to think about it last night before I talked about it but for now I just want some painkillers to try and numb my hand."

"I'll see if I can find you some but have you thought that maybe you should go to the doctor and get it checked. My ex broke his hand once and it looked a lot like yours." There was genuine concern clear in Leigh's voice but I didn't want to go to the doctors. I'd spent enough time there as a teenager when I was battling anorexia.

"I hate the doctors." I mumbled.

"I know but I still think you should go." I glanced up at Leigh's face and groaned. She had that look on her face, the one where you know she's not backing down and you'll never win - looks like she'd be forcing me to the doctors even if I went kicking and screaming. Just at that moment, Jesy strolled into the kitchen.
