I got a call from my grandpa saying what was up. I gasped and made my way off the bus once it stopped at the Manhattan DA's office.
"Hey Tess" mom said as I walked into her office and sat down
"Hey mom" I responded "did u hear about Amy?"
"No I didn't, what happened?" She asked as she looked up at me.
"She had an anxiety attack" I responded "she's at the hospital now"
"Is she going to be okay?" My mom asked as she put down her pen
"We think so, its nothing too major but the doctors have to do more tests to figure it out" I responded.
"Come on" she said and got up and started to walk out
"Where are we going?" I asked a bit confused
"Where do you think?" She asked "we're going to St. Victors to see her"
Once we arrived at St. Victor's, mom ran to Amy's room and she stood outside the door watching her lie so still on the bed but she was breathing.
Mom went in and sat down by her bed and I decided to join her. Amy was so peaceful lying there asleep that I would feel bad if I were to wake her. But soon enough she would wake
"Hey Erin" Frank said walking in "and hello Tess"
"Hey dad" Erin responded
"Hey grandpa" I replied
"How is she?" Erin asked looking at her father with a concerned look
"The doctor said that she should be fine, she just has to rest for a couple days, they want her to stay here for a couple more days to do more testing on her to make sure she's okay" he said. Mom gave a sigh of relief.
"Thanks dad for telling us, how long till she wakes?" She asked
"She was awake not too long ago, maybe 5-10 minutes ago" he said and he looked over at his daughter then back at Amy waiting for her to wake.
"Are we sure she's going to be okay grandpa?" I asked still concerned
"Yes I'm very sure, Amy's tough, she can get through this" he responded
"Frank, Erin" the doctor said "can I speak to you 2 privately"
"Yes of course" grandpa said and he went with the doctor
In the doctor's work office
"What's up?" Frank asked
"Well, we did some tests and she started freaking out, we put her on light sedation, I worry about her Frank" the doctor responded
"Is there anything that would help with the anxiety she's having?" Erin asked the doctor
"I'm afraid not, there's meds we could put her on for that but due to recent and past injuries, she still hasn't healed 100% yet" he responded.
"So what does that mean?" Erin asked again wanting another answer
"Well, she had some past and recent injuries that she didn't let heal, like her knee and wrist for example, they're still healing, and when she got shot in the same knee that was injured before, it'll take longer for that to heal. We took some X-rays before we did the surgery" he explained "but they didn't seem to show anything serious, just broken bones in the knee and a little bit of a bone cracked in her wrist, her leg healed quickly, its just her knee and her wrist to heal now Erin"
"What can we do to help with that?" Frank asked the doctor
"Let's keep her here for a couple of days, get her into physical therapy, it'll take along time before she's fully healed in her condition" the doctor responded "Frank, let me ask you this, has she been chasing any bad guys lately until today?"
"Not that I know of, I'll talk to my son Jamie, he's her supervisor" Frank said. The doctor nodded and looked at Erin
"I heard that she put a criminal in jail, I'm sorry to hear about Danny, last time Amy was here she kept repeating over and over again something about her dad" the doctor said. Erin looked at her dad then back at the doctor
"She was repeating her fathers name?" Erin asked
"Yes she was, when she was brought in a couple days before the funeral, we had her come in to get checked out for any injuries, its part of the normal checkups I do with her" he said "but she kept repeating Danny's name over and over again, she said she wasn't getting enough sleep at night ever since her dad was killed"
"What did you do with her when she did that?" Frank asked
"We got her to settle down and put her on light sedation, she stayed here up to the funeral" the doctor said
Meanwhile back with Amy
I sat by her bed, I wanted to wake her but I knew that was a bad idea, she looked so peaceful, she was on light sedation as the doctor said.
In Amy's head
Danny: "Amy, you have to wake up"
Amy: "why dad, what's the point?"
Danny: "don't be like that with me, the family is worried about you, you need to wake up and show them that your okay"
Amy: "I can't dad, my body is too weak, I can't wake up, everything is sore, everything feels sore, dad I can't hold on"
Danny: "don't die, not now, you have to live, promise me you will"
Amy: "come back daddy"
Danny: "you know that's not possible for me to do"
Joe: "listen to Danny Amy, don't pass over too soon like I did"
Amy: "Uncle Joe? Pops?"
Henry: "I agree with your father Amy, best if you take his advice"
Danny: "go home"
Back to reality
I watched, all I did was watch to see if she would wake up, then I heard grandpa and mom talking to the doctor on their way back to the room
"Let's get her into physical therapy" the doctor said
"Thank you doctor" grandpa said
"My pleasure commissioner" the doctor responded to grandpa
Who was getting into physical therapy, not me I hope, at least, I hope its not me who's going into physical therapy. I don't have any injuries.
