I was listening to what we needed to get done for the day. I sighed and shook my head as we past St. Victor's, I stopped the squad and turned into the parking lot. Once in the parking lot I started to unbuckle
"Woah, what are you doing Reagan?" My partner and girlfriend Edit(Eddie) Janko asked
"What does it look like, I'm going to go see my neice" I responded as I got out and started going inside
"He's such a little ass(again, sorry to younger readers) sometimes" Eddie said to herself as she got out and followed her partner inside.
"Jamie, your here" Frank said as he came up and greeted his only son that he had left
"I came here as soon as possible dad" I replied as I looked into the room "how's she doing?"
"Not well, she keeps having anxiety attacks, she's on sedation for a couple of days then when she wakes they're going to start treatment" Erin said in reply to her brothers question.
"Treatment? What do you mean treatment? Treatment for what?" I asked concerned
"The doctor thinks she will have the thoughts of-" Erin said, she didn't finish, but I knew exactly what she meant by that when she stopped
"How's her anxiety?" I asked
"They're getting better, every time she freaks out they have to sedate her though, but she'll get better" Frank added as his son sat down.
"I'm here Jamie" Eddie said as she came and sat down by her partner.
"Hello Officer Janko" Frank said greeting his officer
"Commissioner" she replied "Jamie, can we talk?"
I nodded and walked outside with my partner. She started explaining things
"Eddie, I know, but its really hard when my neice is laying in a hospital bed in there!" I said with my voice raised. She looked at me
"Reagan, she'll be fine, let's just get back to the job" she said
"12 David, be advised we have a possible shooting at the bar" the dispatcher said over Jamie's radio
"12 David show us responding" I said as I got into the squad and drove off after Eddie got in.
We arrived at the scene, I quickly got out of my squad car and I carefully walked in. I saw my brothers partner, I sighed quietly to myself as I walked up to her
"Hey Jamie" Baez said to me
"Hey Baez" I replied
"How's Amy?" She asked. I shook my head and looked at her "that bad?"
"Yeah, they're gonna start treatment on her soon" I replied "what happened here?"
"A shooting happened" she replied "two men dead, both workers"
I stepped away as I pulled out my ringing phone and answered it
"Reagan" I said
"Hello Jamie, did your neice enjoy having those anxiety attacks?" The voice asked me
"Who is this?" I asked
"No one you'll ever know" he replied then hung up
When my phone rang again, it was Sydney, probably wanting to get back together with me
"Sydney hey" I said
"Hey Jamie" Sydney replied
"What's up?" I asked
"Want to get back together?" She asked me over the phone
"Why?" I asked
"Because I miss being with you" she replied back to me
"But you broke up with me because I couldn't be with you all the time Syd, so no, I have a different girlfriend now" I replied
"Fine Jamie" she said and hung up
I put my phone away. I rolled my eyes a few times at her question. That was ridiculous, why would I get back together with someone who practically kept me away from the job? She was not my type, but Eddie is
"Reagan" I said again as I picked it up, it was my dad
"Hey Jamie" Frank said "she's going to be okay, we just heard"
"That's amazing, thank you for telling me dad" I replied
"Your welcome, its been a couple of days, she's waking up but she's asking for you" he said
"I'll be over soon" I said
"Alright, see you soon" he replied
"You got it" I said and hung up
"What is it?" Eddie asked as she walked over to me
"Amy's awake, we have to go, she's asking for me" I replied.
We arrived back at St. Victor's, I ran up to my neices room and I stopped seeing her and I smiled
"Hey kid" I replied as I walked to her
"Uncle Jamie" she said as she reached out for a hug
I smiled as I hugged her. I sat down by her bed as I held her hand
"I was so worried about you Ames, don't ever do that to me again" I said and she chuckled lightly
"I'm sorry I worried you Uncle Jamie" she said apologizing.
"No, it's on me, how are you?" I asked looking at her.
"Still sore, still missing dad" she said
"Did you ever think of hurting yourself or even dying?" I asked
"In what way?" She asked
"Never mind" I responded
"Okay, well, I'm still really tired, they put me on a heavy sedation and it hasn't completely worn off yet Uncle Jamie" she said and looked at me
"Alright, I'll be right out there if you need me okay?" I said
"Okay" she responded and dosed back off to sleep
I smiled as I got up slowly and as gently as I could without waking her. I walked out to the floor waiting room and waited for my sister and my dad to get back from getting dinner. I kept an eye on Amy but I knew that Crystal and Darrin were right outside the door keeping watch. It was late, I didn't want to leave Amy.
"Jamie? You alright?" I heard my younger sister ask
"Yes Crys, I'm alright, don't worry about me" I said "just tired is all"
"Go home Jamie, me and Darrin will keep an eye on her" she responded
"You sure you can?" I asked. Crystal nodded.
