Betrayed? Chapter 45

- 6:20 am: Saturday morning, Kou Gasai -

"We have been working on a huge project in school. We were told by the principle to not tell anyone, so this is pretty much all I can tell you. Sorry." I shrug and look at the ground, trying to not look suspicious. There is some silence in the room but I don't look up until I feel a hand on my lower back which makes me look up to my left. Kino is sitting next to me with his hand on my back, but not looking at me. 

"Good excuse." Alisha says and gets up, walking to her room without another word. There is a point of silence until she completely shuts the door with a loud bang. I jump a little and finally Shu gets up and grabs Kino's hand harshly. He is yanked from his previous position and both of them just silently walk out of the house while the others just follow. 

"We better get some answers from you if Kino doesn't open up." Yuma says and walks out with the rest of them while I sit quietly with my fists on my lap. With a deep breath, I stand up and look up to see the kids standing as they lean on the fencing. Without any exchange between us, I walk into my room and silently close the door. 

This is horrible. Everything is going to hell, literally. 

I grunt loudly and push myself harshly onto my bed. 

- 6:19 am: Saturday morning, Kino Sakamaki -

I sit next to Kou when she suddenly agrees to tell them where we were all this time. I look at her with a shocked expression but then she talks about us doing a huge project for the school. 

God, thanks for giving me a heart attack. 

I sigh and listen to the awkward conversation as it somehow goes on until Alisha leaves and there's just complete silence. Until Shu breaks it by getting up and harshly grabbing onto my wrist, almost making me hiss from the sudden yank. I start by taking small and quick steps to catch up with him until I match his pace. I look back at Kou with a quick glance before turning back to the front so I don't bump into the main door. 

"Shu, what are you doing?" I yell at him but he doesn't answer me, and before we know it, we are teleported back to our mansion. Shu swings his hand that holds me in front, making me be pulled in front, I almost trip as soon as he lets go. "Shu! What the hell?!" I say and slick my hair back in frustration. Soon, I see all the other brothers teleport behind Shu. With a fearful sigh, I take a few steps back and hang my hand in front of my chest as a useless defense. "Look guys. I'm telling you we didn't do anything, don't you believe Kou?!" I yell as loudly as I can.

"Look, Kino. This can be done much easier if you just co-operate. Come on. Have some sense in you, will you?" Reiji says with a very strict voice and I sigh in frustration. 

"Look, I would if I could. It's not up to me. It's up to- the headmaster." I prevent myself from saying Kou's name and go along with the story Kou came up with. Everyone either sighs or grunts as soon as I say that and I mentally prepare myself for whatever is about to be thrown my way. 

- 6:30 am: Saturday morning, Kou Gasai -

I sit on my bed and think about how I will now go back to the realm in 6 days now that they all are already suspicious. I clutch my knees closer to my chest as I start thinking about ways to get away from all of them. 

I can't let Kino get in trouble anymore either. I need to go there alone. No matter what.

I convince myself and pick up my phone. 

Hey Kino. Are you free right now?

I text but don't get any reply until I wait for at least 10-15 minutes. With the buzz, I immediately pick my phone up and go to our chat.

Yeah. Sorry, what's up?

Look, I'm very sorry that you got involved in all this.

What do you mean?

With the whole traveling to my realm thing.

Everyone knows that we lied to them and went somewhere unknown.

And just generally because now I'm pretty sure the higher ups are not searching for only me.

I'm very, very sorry. 

You there?

Kino?

Yeah. Don't worry about anything. I chose to get into all this myself. 

If anyone is to blame, then it is ONLY me.

Don't blame yourself for anything.

I don't know what to say, Kino. I don't believe you are being so understanding.

...

I'll take that as a compliment.

You should. Anyway, I had one more thing to say.

I was thinking to not go back there 6 days later. It's useless.

How do you know?

I think over an excuse to cover up my plan. After a descent sounding one, I start typing again.

It's because they are going to have an anniversary for them being together.

Something like that.

Oh, that might be helpful though. We should go.

Not with your brothers and Alisha on our tail. 

I'll ask Lia for info and talk to you about it when we can go there again.

- 6:44 am: Saturday morning, Kino Sakamaki -

I look up from my phone hesitantly and look at the satisfied yet curious faces on my brothers. With a disappointed and disgusted sigh, I speak.

"Happy? I can't believe I talked to Kou on your accord. I feel disgusted." I rub my head and feel guilty.

"Now, you answer our questions that just happen to pop up while we read your chat." Ayato says and I glare at all of them.
